Case 2

[Since he’s been here, Kristoph has felt compelled to do two things: explore the castle, or work on his violin. He’s quietly done his fair share of the first, finding comfort in the music room. There was something about coming back to the busted instrument has become...therapeutic to him--at least, once the castle stopped being a jerk to him long enough to give him some proper strings and equipment to repair the busted instrument.

And so it is as he now works on the tuning, the sounds of such coming through the journal. A few moments into his work, Kristoph starts to hum a tune, which then begins to change slowly into quiet singing...

♪I admit that in the past I've been a nasty
They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch
But you'll find that nowadays
I've mended all my ways
Repented, seen the light, and made a switch
To this
And I fortunately know a little magic
It's a talent that I always have possessed
And dear lady, please don't laugh
I use it on behalf
Of the miserable, the lonely, and depressed (pathetic)♪

[There’s a pause in both the sounds of string-plucking and singing, as Kristoph is not entirely sure where that’d come from...He resumes his work after a few minutes, but of course, so does the singing...]

♪Poor unfortunate souls
In pain, in need
This one longing to be thinner
That one wants to get the girl
And do I help them?
Yes, indeed
Those poor unfortunate souls
So sad, so true...♪

[His voice trails off again...there’s a shifting and the sound of fingertips against hollowed wood. There’s an impatient sigh, and then the slow resuming of tuning once again. There seems to be silence finally, but some things are just too great to ignore...and his singing starts anew]

♪Now it's happened once or twice
Someone couldn't pay the price
And I'm afraid I had to rake 'em 'cross the coals
Yes I've had the odd complaint
But on the whole I've been a saint
To those poor unfortunate souls♪

[The tuning and singing stop abruptly, followed by a huff of disapproval, the sounds of the violin being put away]
