Twenty Nine Spoons {Dictated; forward dated to a more manageable hour}
[There’s a soft chuckling on this side of the journal today.] I can’t believe it! I really can’t. Oh, gosh, I don’t suppose anyone can guess what I saw when I looked at the calendar today?
[Jane pauses, pretending to humor a guess.] I saw that I’ve been in the castle for a year. One whole year! And I don’t know why, but that is the funniest thing to me! I feel like I should be sad, or angry, but I’m just so…bowled over by it all!
I’ve gotten to see fairies and dinosaurs and talking animals and a million other things I never thought could be real! Impossibilities, impracticalities, paradoxes, the list goes on and on for miles! And yet, I still can’t help but be a bit skeptical now and again. One would think I would know better, but old habits are hard to break, as they say.
Hoo hoo! Perhaps I should celebrate! Though I don’t know how happy an occasion the anniversary of a veritable kidnapping could be.

Before I go, I’d like to make a request of you, Mr. Walker. My name is Jane, and I think we might’ve spoken before when I wasn’t quite myself, but that’s beside the point. I saw an entry in the journal containing what we know of Paradisa so far, and it included a map. I’ve heard tell you have this map, and I would very much like to see it myself, if that’s alright. It’s not that I don’t believe New York City and Los Angelos and such could really be on it! I just feel like I should see it with my own eyes, is all.

He is more welcome by other people's families than his own. Such is his life]
