25 traps filled with space lobsters

[for the second time this year, Ray finds himself suiting up to do battle against the supernatural forces of Paradisa ...

only, this time, he's not exactly sure what he's looking for. that's not about to stop him, though]

Okay, everyone, I know there's been a call to evacuate the castle, but I think those've us who can fend for ourselves should try to make an effort to get rid of these ... biting mystery things. I'm in the lobby if anyone wants to meet me so we can come up with a plan and share whatever information everyone has ... Venkman, I've already got the Cheez-Its.

((OOC: Threadjack at will, fellow lobster hunters! Since there won't be any official progress until Sunday, this is just time to get some new CR and wander around - think of it as the montage before the Big Fight.))

[As always, he appears without preamble. He's a bit drawn, clearly hasn't been sleeping well (if at all), but his eyes are still as sharp and bright as they usually are.

Being in the clinic makes his head spin with something like cabin fever -- he needs to get out, but he won't let himself be gone very long, either. He's just here to dispense information as needed, and to distract himself.]

[He straightens his shoulders, considers for a second.]

They're small, fast, and difficult to see. Many of the victims didn't realize there was anything in the vicinity until they'd already been bitten, and very few if any were able to catch a glimpse afterwards. Those who did, victims or otherwise, were able to catch only glimpses; out of the corners of their eyes, in the shadows. They're aggressive, but [and here he has to swallow past the bubbling protest from his loss] they prefer stealth to an overt attack. They hunt individually, rather than in a swarm.

The poison is potent, but unpredictable; some last a few hours before they succumb, some a few minutes, some only a few seconds. But they all succumb. They clearly don't have any qualms biting through clothing, so probably best to stay as covered as possible. Not clear what they are and aren't able to puncture through, but the sturdier the better.

[He squints at the other people in the group.]

Short-range weapons are pointless, guns and other projectiles probably more trouble than they're worth. You're more likely to hit each other than any of them. Traps might be the most effective, assuming one of you is willing to be bait, since they don't appear to be interested in any other sort of prey. Magic [a dismissive shake of his head] too broad a category, not worth analyzing.

[A beat.]

It's possible. [He looks vaguely unhappy with himself. There's a whole thought process behind it and that's the only thing that'll come out.] Worth testing.

Yes, good. We'll need more samples anyway.

[Projectiles, huh?]

What about impaling them? I doubt attempting to cut them will do any good, but has anyone made any attempts at running them right through?

If they have, they haven't bothered to mention it, so I hardly think it was successful. Not that surprising, given the size and speed of the target. Though admittedly that doesn't account for superpowers.

[God, he hates superpowers.]
