 [Her journal opening was an accident. The sound of a crying child, in Sam's half asleep state, just made her think of her alarm clock going off on a weekend. One of the few weekends she'd ever had, really but a weekend nonetheless. So when she reached to turn the non-existent alarm clock off, she knocked her journal to the floor and curled up closer to Jack.

The baby kept crying though and Sam finally had to roll over and look.

And look a little longer.

Just a little more.]

Jack? I don't remember there being a baby here when I went to sleep.

Yeah, neither did I. [ At least they aren't the only ones?? Yeah, that somehow doesn't make the whole situation any better. ]

Apparently it's tradition... One I would have really liked to be clued in on beforehand.

You know I expected some strange traditions, but this? Not so much.

[ With that he makes his way up to them, and thus a few minutes later there is a knock at the door. ]

Sam? Jack? You two still in there? [ A beat. ] The baby hasn't mutated into some sort of monster and eaten you both, right?

I don't think anyone would expect babies appearing randomly, some morning.

[Sam glances toward the door.]

No, she's still a regular baby girl. Come on in, Daniel.

[At least he knocked this time.]

[linguistical]

[ Yes! Does he get a cookie? He opens the door once prompted, sticking his head in first before stepping in. ]

[He can wish for a cookie? Because Sam's... not the best cook.]

[ ...If he has too. ]

So, where is the little not-a-monster child?

[ Oh, does he have his hands behind his back? Yes, he does. I WONDER WHAT COULD BE BEHIND HIM. ]

Jack's holding her.

[She nods towards Jack and Gracie, who's happily sucking on his finger. Then watches Daniel curiously.]

[ He blinks, before pulling a hand out from behind his back and waves. ]

Oh. [ He then pulls the other hand out, holding up a white stuffed rabbit. ] Brought her something. Magical castle baby or not, all kids need stuffed animals right?

Oh Daniel, that's fantastic! She'll love it.

[He'll be getting a hug now.]
