[action/dictated - castle lobby]

[Those of you walking into or out of the castle tonight might notice a red and peach streak running past you and into the threshold of the castle. Why, you may ask? Because Tess Mercer has recently gotten over her month of being a shark. The castle rewarded her by leaving her naked and soaking wet in the middle of the duck pond in the freezing cold.

Thank you, castle. Thank you so much.

So that streak is her running back into the warmth of the castle, and the minute she crosses the threshold you may here something as she darts behind a pillar muttering:]

A robe, a coat, anything, I don't really care just give it to me now.

[thankfully, the castle obliges, leaving her with a red silk robe. Once she's modest enough, she'll tie the robe around her waist and make her way calmly out into the lobby. Because nobody saw that, right? She'll stoop down to pick up her journal that somehow magically appeared there, then stealthily make her way to the Gadium Tower so that she can return to her room.

A little while later, some filters will appear on the journal.]

Sorry for my ... disappearance. The castle apparently thought it would be amusing to turn me into a shark and leave me in the duck pond for a month.

Did I miss anything interesting?

If possible I'd like to schedule a time for all of us to get together for a drink. I think we could all benefit from getting to know each other better.

[playing with dynamite by getting Lana and Katherine in the same room? Maybe. Still will be interesting to watch.]

I'd been starting to worry about you, considering our last talk... Was it a loss?

It was. I was a shark, in the duck pond. I think it started around Halloween.

Can I ask why it is you think I'd benefit from knowing any of them better? I won't argue about Elektra, but...

Katherine is an issue?

[Lana used to hang out with Damon, Damon hates Katherine -- it's not a far leap to jump to.]

[ She doesn't like Lilah much, either, although it's been quite awhile for Lana. Lilah hasn't actually done anything horrible in Paradisa (that she was personally responsible for), and really neither has Katherine. At this point it's holding onto grudges for the sake of other people, but even that has simmered over time. ]

Why do you associate with either of them?

Because I haven't been given a reason not to.

Well, I guess I have no counter to that.

[ Because she sure isn't gonna say anything. She's probably ruined enough people for Tess for awhile. ]

Katherine has always been up front with me about what she is. She is the one who introduced me to vervain. While I'm not sure what to make of the new Katherine, I'm not ready to write her off quite yet.

[ It's not so much about what she is, but the things she's done. Or, well, the things she's done prior to coming to Paradisa. But since that wasn't here, she's not bringing it up. ]

She has a reputation for being manipulative, and a user, just like Lex if he'd had an extra few hundred years to perfect it. Just because she's been truthful about some things doesn't mean she's been truthful about it all.

I'm not saying no, or that she isn't useful, but I just want to be sure you're aware of that. Your life is your own.

I never said I trusted her completely. Why do you think I'm keeping my distance?

But you want us all to have lunch and mojitos.

It seemed less suspicious than asking her to lunch one on one.

As someone who has quite a bit of experience with vampires in general... Can I offer you a little advice?

Please. I'm all ears.

Always assume they're five steps ahead of you. Then try to be five steps ahead of that.
