Skit 8: Talking things out

I really like it here, but there are so many people who are sad. They seem angry at the castle when it does things to them. But the castle is a living thing... Maybe it just doesn't understand things the same way people do. I know I have trouble understanding things. My friends were always there to explain it to me back home, and I made friends here who can explain too.

I'm still not sure if I can understand the weird castle shit, but I'm also not sure I would behave any differently if I were a living castle.

[She doesn't mean to sound like a nagging mother or anything, but this is Rise. Sticking her nose into things that aren't any of her business is kind of what she does.]

[Rise doesn't even have a clue how to explain what she's trying to right now.]

[As much as Blues didn't want to admit that. While he liked it here he had a problem with what had occurred over Valentines Day.]

I'd just rather it not force me to do anything.

[Rise just sits there staring at her journal for a moment. After a few blinks, she finally responds.]

... No, that's not why.

It's... the other word. It doesn't exactly work all the time...

Perhaps if the castle had friends to explain things to it, it wouldn't do the things it does.

No, I don't think anyone likes being forced to do things...

I'd consider that my only problem with this place so far.

[Just a shame that's a really touchy issue with him.]

But as I said, you could be right, maybe it doesn't know any better.

[The more she fails at explaining this, the more flustered she's getting.

It'd probably help if she could just say it's a bad word and never ever use it again, but that's not the point she's trying to get across at all...]

[the castle sort of makes her think of Lambda. He didn't start off bad, and Asbel managed to befriend him. They were even coexisting in peace now...]

We could talk to it. That's what Asbel would do, if he were still here.

[This is the most exasperated Rise has been since coming to the castle you have no idea!]

You just... don't always have to use the same words every time.

[It's the closest she can get to her original point without actually outright going into the "time and place" speech. Which she probably won't ever do.]

[poor girl is trying so hard, and Sophie's simplistic understanding probably isn't making it easy]

True, but how exactly do we go about talking to it? if we're inside it shouldn't it already be able to hear us?

Maybe our voices sound too muffled when we're inside. We should try outside, to see if it helps.
