In several postal systems where I am from, letters need proper postage in order to be sent to their addressed recipients. The postage comes in the form of stamps, which are small adhesive squares of paper with their value printed upon them. Most are uniquely decorated, and some places change the decorations on their stamps regularly: which led to some people collecting them as though they were works of art.
