 Eeeyah---?! 

[ There is a tiny little girl (and by tiny, let's say, oh, three inches) scampering around the lobby in quite a panic, trying to call to her family in a quiet hiss. ]

Mother? Father? Cousin Lupy!

[ And what's worse, she can't seem to find shelter under the sofa, or anywhere for that matter. That fact is making her more scared than she would be normally. ]
Spiller?! Wh-where am I...?

[Mitsuru was at the lobby like always, just walking out of The Lux. She noticed something small was moving about and squinted her eyes as she walked closer to it]

Pardon me, do you need some help?

[ Oh! A bean!

She tries to run to the safety of the couch, but once again, something stops her. She looks up at the bean, anxious but very defiant. ]

No I don't! I just need to find my family.

[ Rrrrrrrgh, why can't she stay under the furniture?! She gives up for now and simply tries to run through the space under it to get away from the bean. ]

[Guess who else currently tiny? This kid! After his play session with 5, Evan's been wanting to practice his ability to alter his size and mass, and so is currently about 6 inches tall, and is walking around in the lobby, still amazed at how different everything looks from that scale. He spots Arietty a little ways off, and waves to her.]

Hi there! This might come as a shock to you, but you're in a place called Paradisa. It's a whole world by itself, completely separate from where you came from. The castle brought you here, and in exchange for being able to ask for whatever you want, the castle's taken something from you, like a memory, or something like that. My name's Evan, what's yours?

[By this point, Evan has manged to walk all the way over to Arietty, his non-human-ness now readily apparent, from the gray skin, blue lips, and red eyes he's sporting.]

[ She jumps a few inches, and turns to look. As small as this boy is, he's still twice her size, and she's more than a little intimidated. ]

H-huh...? Taken something from me? You mean, this Castle is like a... [ If the castle were a Borrower, Arrietty, it'd be a piss-poor one. It almost always takes something the beans will miss very dearly.

She blinks and looks at him when he introduces himself. ]

A-Arrietty. My name's Arrietty. [ She looks him up and down a little anxiously, taking in his non-human-ness. ] You don't look like a Borrower... What are you?

[kid_apocalypse]

It's a thief, or a pain in the butt. That's what most people call it, anyway.

[He chuckles.]

It's nice to meet you, Arietty. I'm...[He sticks his hand out to shake, while simultaneously shrinking himself down further, so that they're the same size. His eyes glow as he does it, fading after he stops shrinking.] a shapeshifter, sort of. I know I look a little funny, but it's just part of who I am. [He smiles.]

[ Remus is just making his way, albeit cautiously, through the lobby toward the kitchen just as Arrietty appears. He's careful as he walks, scanning the immediate area with a sort of paranoia in his eyes. There's a certain person whom Remus has been avoiding recently, and he's not keen on running into him when he's sneaking out of his room for food.

In any case, he stops when his sensitive ears pick up a tiny voice and he looks around. At first, he doesn't see anyone and a puzzled expression replaces the paranoia. ]

Err ... hello?

[ She can't help but marvel a little, as he shrinks smaller still. She reaches for his hand, still studying his face. ]

It's... nice to meet you too... I'm sorry, but I didn't even know shapeshifters existed.

[ Just how many beans are in this castle, anyway?

Arrietty tries to run and hide, but she almost trips and yelps quietly, regaining her footing and hiding by the foot of the couch.

Right in Remus' line of sight. ]

It's okay, I'm pretty sure they don't exist in a lot of worlds, but I'm kind of a special exception. I'm not even usually this small, actually. I made a friend not too long ago named 5 who's about the same size as I just was, so I've been practicing staying like this for as long as I can.

[As a demonstration of what else he can do, Evan comically puts a thumb into his mouth, and blows like he's inflating himself, and makes his normally short, straight hair puff out into a large, curly afro.]

You'll get used to it. There's a lot of weird things that happen around here. Just a week ago, the castle made me into an old man for a few days!

[patching_up]

[A similarly tiny figure, though definitely not human and still considerably larger than Arrietty is, was in the midst of milling around the lobby himself. Upon spotting her, he seems to brighten up immensely-- because other than Evan and his size-changing abilities, this is the first person he's seen here at the castle that's small.]

Hey! Are-- are you okay?

[pinwield]

5? That's an odd name... He's not a Borrower either, is he?

[ She can't help but laugh at his silly hair. She smiles a little more at him as he talks. ]

What other kinds of things happen here? [ She turns a little serious now, as well. ] And how many human beans are here? I have to know.

[pinwield]

Huh? [ She looks over. And staaaaares.

What on earth are you, dude. ]

I-I'm okay, I'm just... trying to figure out where I am.

[kid_apocalypse]

[Borrower? Evan can't say he's ever heard that used as a label before, still, he shakes his head.]

I don't think so. He's got kind of a patchwork sort of appearance. Like...he kinda looks like he's made of burlap.

[He giggles at "human beans".]

Well, there are these things called "losses", where the people who live here have something about them changed for a little while. Some people turn into animals, or their age gets changed, but sometimes how they behave can change too. As for how many humans are here...I'd say maybe a hundred or so? Most of the people who live here are humans, with a few exceptions. Technically, I'm a human too, I just have...a little extra.

[ Whoa whoa whoa wait WHAT. ]

There're a hundred beans in this castle?!

[ Oh no. Borrowers aren't supposed to be seen. How would she do any borrowing if there are so many beans here?! ]

I'm just guessing, but I know there's a lot of people here. Humans here really aren't that bad, since there's so many of us who are different, regular, plain human beings are kinda in the minority. I'm actually good friends with a couple of humans, some trolls, a robot, and 5. I'm not really sure what 5 is.

[He chuckles and rubs at the back of his head.]

There's really nothing to be afraid of, trust me.

[patching_up]

We're in a castle. It's called Paradisa, and... well, you're probably kinda stuck here. Nobody's been able to figure out how to get home...

[He pauses, gaze drooping downwards. Being the one to break it to her kinda sucks, but he at least wants to be honest.]

You'll be okay, though. What's your name?

[What's going on down there? Jane looks down and tries to spot whatever's making that noise. It doesn't sound like Five, so...]

Is - is someone there?

[silentrunning]

[Chell wanders into the lobby...There's nobody around, except a.... WTF? Chell peers around curiously... And then looks down...]

"Why... hello."

[She actually speaks, her voice soft and husky, even now, even after she'd been speaking aloud occasionally for a little while.]

Who are you?

[assassino]

[Ezio is oblivious and very nearly steps on her with one large leather boot.

Thud.]

I'm so sorry... only not

[There's a 2 year old chewing on the wooden arm of one of those sofas when she sees the little person skitter by.

She falls down on her hands and knees (something she hasn't done since she learned how to walk) to get a better look.]

Little action yeeeeah!!

Huh? Did I hear something?

[A tiny little head peers down from the top of the sofa curiously. It's small enough to be a borrower, though Sugar is anything but. The fairy waves down at the other girl.]

Oh, hello!

[ Having just returned from exploring the castle grounds, Katherine was making her way through the lobby when she came to a sudden stop. Her eyebrows furrowed, a curious look appearing on her face, all the while looking down at her feet.

For a second there she could have sworn she heard a small just now. ]


... Hello?

But you don't understand... Borrowers aren't supposed to be seen by beans, ever. It's like, the Golden Rule of Borrowing.

[pinwield]

I, um, someone told me that already.

[ She pales a little at the next part, though. ]

No one's ever gone home? But- but what about Mother and Father, and my house? Mother will think I got eaten by the beans' puppy or something!

[ She calms down a little. Even if her mother thinks she got trapped or killed or squashed or eaten, there's nothing she can do about it now. ]
