So... I've been seeing a lot of pies lately. Don't really think anyone could eat this many -- or that there's enough of us to eat all of them, or that anyone would want to after Valentine's Day -- so I have a proposition for you guys.

Who wants to have a pie throwing contest? I'll be outside with a bunch of pies if anyone wants to see who can smash the most pies into someone's face. If you want to bring your own, go for it. Soft pies only. No rocks or other hard things. I'll play mediator if I have to.

If that doesn't work, I'll probably just be throwing pies at trees or something. Oh! Or I could have people toss pies and see if I can catch them. [ ashley, teleporting is cheating. ] I need more practice with this stupid ability anyway.

Either way, I'll be outside entertaining myself if anyone wants to throw pies at me. [ she really doesn't care. this is the best use of castle-given pies as far as she's concerned. ]

[He hears Ashley's announcement over the journal, and can't resist just walking out to the grounds to look for her. They had never actually met face to face, only talked over the journal, and he wanted to put a face to her voice.

She isn't actually that hard to find, as she's the only person with a bunch of pies outside. Amused, he calls out:] Some would say that was a waste of entirely good pie.

[ by the time he gets there, she's been tossing pies to herself -- that is, throwing them as hard and as far as she can, judging where she thinks they'll fall, and teleporting to try to catch them. she's had marginal success and there's a lot of pie remains on the ground and herself to show for it -- her hair is a mess, even through the ponytail she put it into.

the sound of that voice makes her grin and hold up two fingers. ] Two words for you: Valentine's Day. I'm not eating these things.

And neither am I. [He hasn't eaten anything the castle has given him so far, and he's not about to start. Though-] You're quite fast.

Thanks. [ she flashes him a grin. teleporting may be cheating, but she doesn't care. ] Are you here for the party, the social, or just to toss pies at me? [ he was nice enough to offer help and an ear to listen last month. the least she can do is eventually show him what she has to be worked up about, right? ]

[He laughs at that.] Well, I couldn't possibly toss pies at a lady... Unless she tossed a pie at me too. [He's shedding his nice coat and throwing it to the side so he doesn't get pie on it. Might as well see how out of shape he is from living her for four months. And if his Hyper Intuition is still working well.]

[ she snorts with amusement. ]

Don't worry. There's no lady here. [ she certainly isn't one and she knows it well. ] But I can toss one at you anyway if it'll make you feel better.

[ she stoops to pick one up from the ground, turning it in a slightly threatening manner. if he doesn't want to get pie all over him, she won't aim for him, but she really hopes he won't mind at least tossing pies to her so she can catch them.

aside from feeling a little like a dog, she's enjoying this. ]

[Oh, he'll still inwardly consider her a lady. One that can probably hurt him and defend herself, but one nonetheless. He grins.]

Go ahead.

[And of course he'll throw pies for her. ~~And maybe at her if he starts feeling really mischievous.~~

[ as far as she's concerned, her mother is the lady, not herself.

she aims a little off-center, more towards his shoulder, which would make her mother call her out if helen were actually there. but she's not, so ashley can get away with not trying so hard on a friend. ]

[Don't worry, he can sense it coming a mile away, as well as see it. It's also a lot bigger than a bullet, which he can usually doge easily.

But he waits until it's almost on him to duck and move to the side, out of the way as it soars harmlessly past him.]

Now I'm really curious about your ability.

Nice.

[ impressive. good. at least this won't be one-sided. she tries a little harder on the next one, giving it a good push and aiming for his chest. ]

Why don't you come out and see?

I will, but I don't have to really throw pies at you, do I?

If you're really against it, no. I don't really care. You can throw them into a tree and I'll go catch it or something.

[ really, she just wants to have fun with these stupid pies. ]

Seems like the waste of a good pie, either way. But I'll think of something.

It's pie that the castle seems to be giving out. I wouldn't trust it.

But fine, come out and keep me company. I'll refrain from abusing the pies while you're here.

When you put it that way, I can see why throwing it is the better idea.

How about we see who can deflect the most pies?

[He came out to actually see if she was doing this, and for once he's not dressed fully, just a shirt and pants, looking more well, irked then anything. Ashley why you do this to him?]

Ashley Magnus, if you think this is any way to act while here, so help you young lady. [He's pointing a finger at her and everything while he starts, and really she knows he's not as fast as she is so...]

I'd rather not have to worry about what I'm going to be like after I eat it, so yeah.

Hmm I might not be good at deflecting them, but sure. I can dodge or try to hit them back.

[ now she's imagining pie volleyball. ]

[That one is a bit harder to dodge, but he can still see it coming so he's able to drop down out of the way and grab a pie, straightening up and throwing it straight at her.

She did want him to throw pies, didn't she?]

[ she hasn't even done anything!

yeah so not afraid of that finger, try harder. she's just giving him an incredulous look. ]

So fun is out of the cards now? Didn't know you were such a stick in the mud.

[ way to ruin her fun, james, geeze. it's perfectly harmless. what gives? ]

[He's being a grumbling old man, and so not harmless. They're not cursed, but you know what he tried wishing for earlier and found in a random pie?

Finding a pen in his apple pie was not cool man.]

Nikola wouldn't disagree with you. [...Not the point.] Have you checked to see if there's anything in them? [But he is getting closer yup.]

[ that one catches her shoulder as she tries to dodge it. she wasn't expecting him to toss one at her so quickly, but that's very good to know. the impact doesn't even slow her down as she reaches for another to toss.

oh she did and she's enjoying this. if he goes for something more difficult to dodge, he might just see her teleportation in action. it's the only way she'll be able to dodge these things completely, though for the moment she's trying to play fair. ]

[If she uses her teleportation she might actually be able to catch him off guard. Though he's not even trying to play fair. He's using his supernatural sixth sense to dodge, but she wouldn't know about that.

He watches her, grinning as she reaches for the next pie to throw, not even moving, calling out to tease:] Have to be quicker than that.

That could work, too. [pie volleyball will be the next big thing]
