[ Lee clears his throat twice before he starts. Sure, he's fine lecturing to a classroom full of university students, but addressing a castle full of strangers via magic book is a different monster entirely. ]

Heard a lot of talk about people looking for ways out - trying to figure out how to get home.

[ How much is okay to share? How much does he even feel like divulging? Carefully, he continues: ]

What about the people who want to stay here? Think there's a shot at that?

I think most of the people who are looking for a way out, want to include an option for the people who want to stay. Because for quite a few people, this place is a much better option for them.

You'd probably be surprised. I'm looking to go home, but I wouldn't want to force anyone to go home. My girlfriend has been here for three years, and she has really stressed the "allowing people to stay" option.

From what I've seen, we have no control over that. It sends us home when it feels like.

...That or sends people to wherever it sends them before it brings them back with their memories intact.

[Oh hey it's that guy]

Staying here?

Well, I think theoretically it's as possible as finding a way out. I mean, as much as I wanna go home- I don't want to do it by means of sending others to their deaths if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I can get that. The first few months here can be pretty confusing.

It'll probably be a long time before we find a way to leave or stay anyway, so you'll have time to think about it.

There better be a way to stay here because I'm sure as heck not going back.

[Of course, she's not too far away.]

Do you want to stay here, Lee?

Hi, said girlfriend, here. I don't think I've done anything special. People have been here longer than me, though.

[ He can't imagine that. ]

I would want to stay.

Well, as far as anyone knows it's pretty damn random as far as who gets to stay and who doesn't. There is one thing I've noticed, though. People who never go out of their way to talk to people or leave their rooms are the first to disappear. I know not everyone's a social butterfly, but--if you at least make the effort, the castle counts it, you know?

The theory is it tosses us all in here as some kind of huge social experiment, and if you don't participate, it gets bored and sends you home.

We don't. But we call it "the castle" for want of a better name.
