[The tremors are much less severe at the west outpost, it being pretty far from the epicenter. As Aradia was still sleeping in her recuperacoon (what? it's only three in the afternoon), she didn't even feel it, until Ruu the monkey shook her awake, chittering in distress.]

Huh? What... I'm up, what's wrong?

[She pulls herself groggily out of the slime, and immediately notices the state of her room - her carefully arranged shelves have dropped their priceless archaeological contents all over the floor.]

What?? Ruu, did you do this?! Or did Mystery get out, or...?

[But that's not what Ruu's concerned about, as he motions for her to follow out into the hall. Concerned, Aradia follows him, and that's when she smells it...

No. No no no. Not okay at all. She whips her journal out even as she starts running, trying to find the source of the odor.]

Um, can someone come out to the West Outpost, on the double? I think something's on fire!

Aradia-san! I'm coming, but you're gonna have to give me directions. I'm inside the castle.

[From the background noise, Aradia's gone into fairy flight mode. She doesn't actually register whose voice that is right away, but fortunately does not care.]

Room 2001, Terrere Tower! Right off the lobby! You'll see a pad, just stand on it and you're here.

[Chie closed her eyes and tried to memorize it. She started muttering it under her breath to not forget]

Okay! I'm close to the Terrere Tower, I'll be there as fast as I can!

[Chie sprints to the destination, and in half a minute, she would be by the outpost]

[Inside the outpost, actually! Chie will find herself teleported to an identical pad in a smallish room, which leads out into a larger, partially painted common room. The smell of smoke is faint, but unmistakably present.

Aradia is just flying down the stairs in her god-tier garb, complete with sparkly red fairy wings; a pink monkey is riding on her shoulder. She'll see Chie as soon as they're both in the common room, and wave her over.]

Chie! Over here!

[Chie looked around as soon as she got teleported to the outpost. She immediately smelled something burning, and her face changed to a sour expression. She saw Aradia wave at her, then she ran towards her. The burning smell got stronger as she got closer]

Aradia! Hey, what happened here?

I.. I can't get there... I have to go help the Freelancers, the town.

The town is pretty much gone.

Aradia?! I have to make sure Violet and Sunny are safe, but I'll be there as soon as I can. How do I get to you?

[That very nearly stops her in her tracks.]

Gone? What do you mean, "gone"?

Yeah! Do you know how to get here?

Room 2001, just off the lobby! Step on the transportalizer!

We haven't gotten very far in yet, but...

What about you? Are you alright?

An earthquake? I didn't feel anything. [but that would explain all the shit that got knocked off her shelves. and also possibly the fire she's looking for.]

I'm fine, I just - I have to find where this smoke is coming from.

[psych0p0mps]

I don't know! I just woke up, and my respiteblock was a mess and Ruu was freaking out about the smoke - I think it's coming from downstairs. This way.

[She motions urgently in the direction of the down stairs, which are down the hall a little ways, as she heads for them herself. The smoke smell will get stronger the closer they come to the staircase.]

I hope it's not the -

[AS ALL THE LIGHTS FLICKER AND GO OUT.]

- it's the generator. Damn it!

[He didn't trust that damn thing.]

[Grimace] It better not be! But the power's still on [for another minute and a half], so maybe not. [aside:] Downstairs, Ruu?

[He sighs. The idea of that thing leaking whatever radiation it produced and potentially poisoning her is not something he wants to dwell on.]

[the pad is literally the only thing in the room so there's not really much need to be more specific.]

[Moments later, he's in the room and through the teleportation pad. Right after he steps out, he releases his Mantine and Politoed]

Where's the fire?

[Chie covered her nose with the sleeve of her jacket as she followed Aradia. She yelped when the lights went out, she's always been freaked out by ghosts in the dark, but her will to help out a friend managed to override that fear]

A generator? No wonder it kind of smells like that... Ugh.

[Quickly] Aradia -- get out of there first, it's dangerous.

No...it has to be something inside the building, not the building itself, unless the quake disturbed the wards.
