[Something someone never expects to see appearing in the clinic, is someone... Well, just appearing. But that's exactly what the Doctor does. He phases into existence, stating those timeless words...]
Please state the nature of the medical emerg...
[Until he cuts himself off, that is, looking around.]
...This isn't my sickbay... [Sterling powers of deduction. He raises his voice, a note of irritation present.] Mr. Paris, if this is your way of celebrating your new baby, I'd like to run a cranial scan.
[No response. He does, however, notice the mobile emitter present on his left arm and frowns. So maybe this wasn't the holodeck. He reaches up and taps his combadge. It was worth a shot.]
Doctor to Captain Janeway. [Nothing.] Doctor to Voyager. Please respond. [Again, nothing.] Well. This is just wonderful. [He raises his voice again.] I'll have you know that this isn't the first time I've been kidnapped. Kindly return me to my vessel.
[Meanwhile, he's taking out his tricorder and doing some scans. Yes, it's a medical tricorder, but it can still take some readings. Like life forms. He hasn't noticed the journal at his feet yet.]
