It is with the heaviest of hearts that I feel I must inform you that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is no longer within the castle. There is no confusion in this matter, for her room was empty of all but a spare number of heartfelt messages and belongings.

As I trust none in delivering these treasures of her heart, I will deliver them to you myself, or you may come to my chambers to accept them if you so prefer.

[ Some time after she's informed those who seem to be the most pertinent, Anne writes an official message into the journal. Right now she would prefer to just rot in her rooms. So much for progress! ]

Good citizens of Cair Paradisa,

For any who knew and loved her, I bid you fill your prayers this eve with reverence and strength for Queen Elizabeth the First of England, Ireland and France, as she is no longer in our humble company. This is not an event to be mourned, as she has finally escaped Paradisa's brutality and returned to her rightful home and duty, where she will carry on to make England proud.

God bless His Majesty King Henry, and God Bless Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

[There's a pause as he sees that message. So...that was that then. he guess he knew it'd only be a matter of time]

Thank you, your Majesty. I live in the city so I come to your room shortly.

[ Zelos, the only name she couldn't understand at all. The only one who she didn't even realize had known her daughter. Neither had told her, so what could she make of that? She doesn't want to make anything of it right now, really. Too much to think about, to tear her hair out about, to worry about some faceless noble.

But her daughter trusted a handful here, and Anne will now be slow to dismiss them for that sake alone. Any connection is better than none. ]

I will expect you soon, then.

[Anne...it's probably better you don't know. You know, like ever. But yep, he'll be on his way there. About fifteen minutes later he'll arrive, and give a polite knock on the door]

I had the honor of speaking with her majesty in person. I'm glad to hear she's back where she belongs.

[ Yeah shut up shut up shut up. ]

She is indeed England's rightful queen and belongs nowhere else, though the world she does not grace will always be a little less bright.

[ She cares not for formalities today, not in the expected sense. Though she's made the foyer out into a throne room, she doesn't sit there. It is too far from the door for her comfort today, and so she merely sits in a wished up chair beside the door, waiting while staring numbly ahead.

At the knock, she forces an experienced smile and stands, able to forsake her crutch and instead lean slightly against the doorframe once the door is pulled open. It's terribly informal, though she still dresses impeccably and stands as tall as a small woman can. Her eyes are red, but he will say nothing she expects. Else she might just kill him for it, there is no limit to what she'll do simply out of irritation now. ]

Your Grace, thank you for coming. I pray it was of no inconvenience.

True. ... You still grace us, Queen Anne. [and you were the one who made the public announcement]

[ Only because she had to. Fuck duty. ]

[ When Elizabeth had promised to remind her of sweetness too. Sympathy isn't the mark of nobility, and Anne makes no claim for it by how carefully crafted and subdued even this announcement is. A mother's loss is greater still. ]

It is quite the walk to where I am. One I would not ask of a Queen.

[There's a long pause before Galadriel answers and when she does her tone is muted, softer even than is usual for her. If there is anything she understands, it's separation from one's daughter.]

I have no wish to trouble you more than is necessary; I will come to you. [She might offer more- her company, perhaps, or a willing ear. But looking as she does, that is most likely a poor idea. It would only rub salt in the wound.]

.... Long live the Queen.

[She paused, before adding quietly.] She was a brave woman, Queen Anne, and she will be missed. So, in honor of her, do you require me as a personal bodyguard?

[He watches her when she opens the door, quietly taking in the scene and her appearance. He won't judge, she just lost her daughter. Anyone would cry over that, right?]

[ Because it's rude to just make him stand in the hall, but at least the table where she can fetch the belongings is close. But she will offer the most deadpan expression ever as she fetches the letter and butterfly mask from the table nearby. A masquerade masque is very telling, okay. ]

In most cases I would dispute that and go for a pleasant walk, but on this day I would permit a visit in it's stead.

[ Because she can't get that far by foot or in a wheelchair no, she can't even make it to the city. At least not on her own. ]

[ Yeah, she doesn't want to see Galadriel's face at all right now, but this is duty. ]

[ The girl that insulted her? No thank you. Anne doesn't even trust her close friends as guards anymore, anyway. She just has little patience for anything or anyone now with the news she has. ]

There is no need. If you wish to honor my daughter, then do so by helping the innocents whenever they cry out.

[ No promises. She learned a lot more than just her daughter leaving. ]
