#001 - Dictated & Action

[There's a newcomer, although likely not a fresh face to many, down in the lobby. He's got his journal with him, he's been reading and listening to it, and besides thinking it's weird that a book is making sounds, he's slowly coming to terms with the facts of life concerning Paradisa. This is definitely not where he expected to be when Izanami, well, cast him down to Hell. Beside him, there is a pile of random objects he's wished up to test that, yes, you can wish for things. There are several cans of soda, random food items, a shovel, a bunch of plastic model robots, and exactly one hundred paper cranes.]

Huh...

[Okay, he's convinced that works. Now, how about communication? The journals don't come with instructions, so he just picks his up, flips to a blank page, and starts talking.]

Does this work? Oh, there's letters.

[Let's think of a good word to react to that with. Astounding? Impossible?]

Souji-kun?

Is that- Chie?

[He didn't know if he dared to hope to hear a friendly voice, and having Chie there in this... magic castle place is a much larger relief than his voice lets on.]

Am I glad to hear you. Where are you? Are you hurt?

I'm in my room in the castle. Oh my god, I can't believe it's really you! Last time I saw you was you was at the train station!

Train station...?

[Not sure what she means there, but that's a secondary concern right now.]

Does everyone get a room, here? And which one is yours?

[He has to go meet her now- but, oh no, what about his pile of stuff he wished up?]

Yeah, everyone gets a room once they arrive at the castle. Mine is high up, it's in one of the castle's towers. It would be easier that I to come to you. What's your room number?

High up... [At least she's Chie, all the exercise from going up and down stairs won't faze her.] I'm not sure, where do I find that out?

[It happens to be 1606, but he doesn't know that.]

The door on your room should have it.

I don't know which one that is... I just found myself down in what I guess is a lobby.

[Does this mean he needs to search the whole place to find his room?]

Oh, right. I forgot not everyone starts up in their own rooms... The lobby is pretty close to where I am, I just need to take the elevator. I'll meet you there!

A castle with elevators... handy. Okay, I'll wait here.

[And so he shall, next to his pile of junk food, cranes, and a shovel. He'll probably be found snacking on some of said junk food, waiting for her to arrive.]

Yeah, it's got electricity too. I have a TV in my room.

[Chie took a minute to get to the lobby. These elevators can be pretty slow for being magically powered.

Then she saw a familiar face. Her heart almost skipped a beat. It's him! It really is him! She's so glad to see the man who changed her life. She gave him a friendly wave hello]

Yo! Souji!

That's handy.

[He wonders if they get the shopping network... but just for a moment. Souji isn't that out of touch with his situation, no matter how close he may be.

With the appearance of patience ruined only by the way he sways back and forth on his feet, he waits for Chie to show up and give him final confirmation that his friends aren't banished to some horrible fate. When the elevator doors open and that familiar, cheery face on a body always in her old green jacket walks out, he actually smiles.]

Hey, Chie. [And waving right back at her! He's even slightly disappointed she didn't go right for a big hug.] Glad to see you're okay. Did the others make it, too?

[And she did give him a big hug right when he was in range!]

Oh my god, it really is you! I'm so glad!

Rise-chan is here, and Nanako-chan! Not too long ago, Adachi-san was with us too, and Yukiko...

[Pixy was just minding his own business while passing through the lobby on his crutch with shiba inu puppy in tow until he hears Souji's voice. Which will make him doubletake, but when he just sees that kid with the bowlcut, he'll relax a little. Okay. It's not PJ. Good. Geez, that was twice he had that brief 'scare'.

...but then raise he'll an eyebrow at all the stuff laying in that pile.]

Got enough junk sitting around the place, kid?

[Aha! His disappointment had come too soon! Big hugs for Chie, too.]

I'm glad to see you, too. [Aww, leader-kun can smile.]

—Nanako and Adachi? How did they get here? It was you, me, and the rest of the team last time I saw you. [And now that he's thinking on that track...] And what was that about a train station?

[...What the heck, whoever this guy is, he sounds like an older, grouchier Yosuke. That's kind of weird. But it would be impolite to say anything, so, time to address the stuff at hand!]

I was testing the wishing thing. Don't worry, I'll clean it all up.

It's quite a lot to take in when you're new. But we're in a place called Paradisa. It's not part of the TV, because the case is already over when Rise-chan and I got here.

And I guess you were taken from a time before you went home to the city if you don't know about being in the station. We were all there with you! [Chie chuckled and swept her hair behind her ear. Her hair is a little longer than before. This is the true ending route, btdubs]

This is a lot to take in...

[So she's from the future? They won against Izanami? Neat, he can stop worrying about that, then, and start worrying about other things. There's a hand going up to his chin, now.]

So, Rise is here, and Nanako, and Yukiko... left? No sign of the others?

Yeah, it's just Rise, Nanako, and you and me here now. Yukiko left just a few days when I got here. I guess the castle can't find anything else for her to do.

It does that. Once the castle decides you're going home there's nothing you can do! So a lot of the time people we know just vanish...

[Poor Chie. He knows first-hand how much she hates being separated from her BFF, he's going to have to be an extra supportive leader.]

So, it's the castle itself that's doing all of this weird stuff? Not anyone in charge?

This is almost as weird as the TV world.

No one is in charge, yeah. We pretty much just do what we want whenever the castle doesn't take us elsewhere. It does that sometimes. When I got here, it took me to space!

Space? No joking? That actually sounds fun...

[All in all, he's taking this a lot better than even he thought.]

Is Nanako doing okay? Her dad isn't here, is he? [Ah, crud, she needs family.]

Yeah, it was fun until aliens started attacking the ship. Scared the heck out of me!

Nanako-chan is doing really well, actually! She lives in town with a bunch of people.

Aliens? ...I guess if you can handle Shadows, you can handle those.

[He frowns a little hearing she's living with other people. Maybe they're good people, but he just saw her a few hours ago, as far as he knows, and she wasn't ready to go live with strangers.] I should go find her, soon. Do you think she's listening to the, um, journals?

Yeah, that's what I thought at first. But sometimes this castle takes your powers away. So I'm training harder than I should have to be ready in case that happens again!

And yeah, she should answer. You could filter to Nanako-chan so she's the only one to hear it.
