paradisa | One Lunar Flower

[A castle was the last place Toboe was expecting to wake up in. Actually he was surprised he woke up at all, considering that the last thing he remembered was being shot in the back. His first thought was maybe he was captured by nobles - this looked like a place nobles would live in, right? But then again, he probably wouldn't be able to leave the room he woke up in if he did.

Not to mention, if this was a castle used by the nobles, he wouldn't be bombarded with all these strange scents - humans, animals, even scents he couldn't quite place. But the one that sticks out to him the most are all the trees and flowers and wildlife outside. It wasn't like anything he's ever seen before.

...Was this Paradise?

A little while later, Toboe will follow his nose outside the castle, until he comes across a garden. Howling follows soon afterwards, and anyone who catches him in the act will see a wolf sitting in the middle of the garden.

Anyone who doesn't catch him howling will see a young boy sprawled out in the middle of the garden with a giant grin on his face.]

I found it! I really found Paradise!

Close, but no cigar. It's Paradisa.

[ She had been out on a walk through the gardens herself. After being cooped up on that cruise ship and not having enough time to wander the city before everything changed back, she needed to spend as much time outside as she possible good. It felt nice to be out and about with no destination in mind.

But when she heard the howling it brought her back from the thoughts she was wrapped up in. Looking for the source she took notice of the wolf not far from her.

And of course, without a moment of hesitation, she made a beeline for the creature. She had not see the wolf around the castle before. Perhaps the wolf was lost? ]

[Toboe sits up, sounding very confused.]

Hello? Who's there?

[Toboe stops howling as soon as he spots the girl coming towards him. He makes no move to hurt her, but he'll stumble backwards while trying to figure out what she wants.]

[ Noticing this, Katherine thought that she must have startled him. Her steps came to a stop a few feet away from him and knelt to the ground carefully. She hoped that her smile would be reassuring to the wolf when she spoke gently to him. ]

Hello! I didn't mean to startle you.

[ Remus had just been passing through the gardens on the way back up to Cair Paradisa, looking tired and a bit downcast. A full week of searching and Sirius had yet to be found and the prospect of finding him anywhere somehow looked very bleak. He was only taking the long way around on a hope that he might find Sirius somewhere.

When he hears howling, he stops suddenly and looks around, sniffing the air. ]

Padfoot? Sirius, is that you?

[ Hope wells up in his chest as he makes to round the corner on the path, before it's suddenly snatched away from him upon the sight of a young wolf rolling in the grass. And he had so hoped -- ]

This is the voice of your magic book. Sooooookyyyy.

[Magic book? Oh right, the thing he found in his room. He's not sure why he took it with him, he can only read a few words. But maybe that's where he keep hearing voices from.]

Are you in the book?

[Flips the book open, starts shaking it.]

[Toboe sniffs the air the moment Remus approaches and quickly gets on his feet, covered in grass and flower petals.

He'll tilt his head at the newcomer curiously. It's not quite a human smell, but Toboe's not sure if he should try talking to him just yet. He'll wait for Remus to make the first move before he decides if he's a threat or not.]

[Maybe she thinks he's a lost dog. He doesn't mind being treated like one, and this girl seems nice enough. It's tempting to try and talk to her, but he doesn't want to scare her off either.

Instead he'll walk forward slowly, and if she allows him he'll nudge her hand with his head.]

[ She waits where she is patiently, her smile unwavering as she watched him walk towards her. Katherine was used to all sorts of animals back home so she felt at ease around the wolf.

When he nudged her hand she let out a small giggle and moved her fingers so that she was stroking the top of his head carefully. ]

[ Remus' disappointment at the lack of one Sirius Black, however, is curbed by the sight of this new wolf. He's quite familiar with Nymeria by now and he's seen at least one glimpse of another direwolf here, but this wolf is definitely nowhere near that size. This one looked young, too. Obviously still just a pup.

Curious, but still cautious, he crouches down slowly and lowers his head a little, mimicking a real wolf. A low posture was non-threatening, and the last thing he wanted to do was scare him off. ]

'Lo there. You're new, aren't you?

[When Blues hears the howl, he goes out to investigate but only see's a boy sprawled out on the ground.]

That's quite the howl you have, for a human.

Uh - that wasn't me!

[He immediately sits up. Darn it, he knew he should've been quieter.]

[Toboe watches carefully, before trying to speak.]

Are you...a human?

[Aaa he's really missed being petted. He's almost forgotten how nice it feels! His tail wags cheerfully and he lets out an excited whine.]

[Toboe's not sure...

He'll keep shaking the book.]

How did you get in there?

[ He's a little taken aback when the wolf suddenly speaks, but his surprise doesn't last long. Remus has always been able to understand the canine language fairly well, after all -- though it usually didn't involve a whole lot of speaking to begin with. ]

Not ... entirely.

[ He doesn't tell him any more than that, simply tilting his head to the side. ]

I won't do you any harm, I promise.

...Then where'd it come from?

A witch cast a spell on me.

I dunno. Are you sure the sound was coming from right here?

[Not really, but he doesn't want to reveal that he's a wolf right away.]

A witch...? What's that?

[That's really only the confirmation Toboe needs to relax a little.]

Where am I? This is Paradise, isn't it? I haven't find any lunar flowers yet.

[It wasn't quite what he was expecting, but it's way nicer then where he was before.]

You're close, but no cigar, my friend.
This is Paradisa and as beautiful as it is, it isn't exactly what one would call paradise.

[ He shrugs a little, before offering a small smile. ]

I'm Remus Lupin. Who are you?

Quite sure. I suppose I could have been a little slow to arrive, perhaps what ever made the sound has already left.

[He doesn't think that at all, but he'll respect this guys privacy for now.]
