He's gone. No name on the door. I know in most cases when people leave, you get the assurance that they'll be okay. But with Adam... I'm sorry, but I can't say that's true.

[She doesn't say a word. She'd had a feeling that would happen when they hadn't heard from him for so long and yet... yet it still struck a chord deep within her. Peter had been at the castle for so long, seen so much... yet so many keep being pulled away from him like this. It's simply not fair.

She goes right to Peter, wrapping her arms around him]

.... Oh.

[She sighed, heavily.] I liked him. He knew the score.

[she had had a feeling, the day he'd inquired after him. Christ, she hadn't wanted to be right]

My thoughts are with you, Peter. And with Phoebe, as well.

Katniss (because he probably got her name somehow)

I didn't realize he knew so many people here. That's good for him.

It's okay. It happens a lot. [to him]

[he takes her in his arms. This one doesn't seem to hurt as much. Adam got to see Mary, got to see that he could be a better person. So that's a good thing]

I bet he's with Mary right now.

[savethedarkness]

[bluntly:]. Oh, come off it, it is not okay, it's dreadful. I admire a stiff upper as much as anyone, but that's a bit much, don't you think?

[spongetastic]

I just mean... He got to meet his daughter here, and I'm happy he made friends.

[savethedarkness]

... Forgive me. A little extra time is far better than none at all.

[she's painfully aware of that, lately, after all]

True. I kind of hope he remembers some of it when he goes back. I think it would help him.

[kungfuwitch]

[She holds him closely, resting her cheek on his chest]

I'm sure he is. And I bet they're happy together.

[he smiles, stroking Phoebe's hair] He'll take care of her until she comes back.

Peter - ffft more than likely.

[spongetastic]

Yeah, he did. [an amused laugh]

Is there a chance he might be back?

[kungfuwitch]

[She rubs a comforting hand up his back]

And neither of them will have to be apart from someone they love.

Katniss

[spongetastic]

There's every chance. People come and go here all the time. But he has a long timeline, and he could come from any point in it.

[spongetastic]

[Peter smiles. It's a nice thought. Much better than what actually happened: Adam dying alone and scared. No matter what he did, Adam didn't deserve a death like that]

[savethedarkness]

As do I. [even if she knows how unlikely it is.]

[She lets out a quiet sigh.] Honestly, he's probably better off whereever he is.

Katniss

[spongetastic]

He died, Katniss.

Peter

[There is a long moment of silence at that - before her voice comes out hoarsely.]

Oh.

[kungfuwitch]

[She easily returns that smile.]

Would you like to do something today, sweetie? Or should we just crash on the couch with a good movie?

[spongetastic]

Crashing on the couch sounds good to me. Let's do that.

[kungfuwitch]

[She leans in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips]

You get the ice cream and I'll pick a movie?

[spongetastic]

I can do that. [he kisses her back]

[kungfuwitch]

[She smiles]

Mmm keep kissing me like that and we'll never make it through the movie. [with a laugh she pulls back, giving him a grin before turning towards their living room]

How do you feel about a romcom?

[spongetastic]

I feel like I could use the laugh.

[kungfuwitch]

[She smiles]

I have a good one in mind. It's technically a Christmas movie but there's nothing wrong with a little Christmas in July once in a while, is there?

[spongetastic]

That's fine with me.

[She moves to pull out Amore Definitively and get it started]
