19th Card [dictated]
It's one thing to know that places have changed in your absence - that time moves on without you, and that particularly in the castle, 'time' is a loose construct at best - and another to actually see it with your own eyes.
To me, the last time I was in Tokyo proper was perhaps six months ago, and the year was, by the Western calendar, 1920. Suffice to say it seems quite a bit has changed since then.

Some of the names, and the old temples - but most of these buildings look very new, to me.

I was afraid of that. And here I hoped learning our way around might be easy this time around with someone who'd been here before.

Unless you're interested in old temples, I'm afraid not. Though I can read all the signage, at least.

That might be more helpful than you know. I have to admit, the language here is... odd, with these complicated symbols.

It's a logographic script, borrowed from the Chinese - so I learned it at a young age. But it does make things more difficult for new learners.

Logographic? Heh, yeah, I'm not used to 'logographic' languages. Any way I can get a crash course?

Characters represent full ideas rather than a single sound or syllable. Unfortunately, I've never worked out a decent translation spell - and I've always had time to learn languages the hard way.
