paradisa | 001 [Written/Action]

[Castiel has spent the last week or so since his arrival getting used to being mortal more than actually acclimating to this new world. It hasn't been easy in the slightest, having to learn to manage basic human necessities as well as the larger unsettling issue of being suddenly a completely different species.

But he's adaptable, and he's managing, if not especially well. He looks a bit more unkempt than when he arrived, figuring out how to brush his hair and take care of the scruffy beard he's growing a far lower priority than trying to eat and sleep, and the lost look isn't gone from his eyes. However, today he's ventured out of his room for more than just food, beginning to explore the castle, but soon being completely waylaid by the library. The selection is incredible, and Castiel knows where he's going to be spending a lot of time.

That's where he's settled, if anyone is passing by, writing out an entry in the journal the castle provided him. He might as well try it out, and he has information he wants.]

I want to hear of any attempts that have been made toward leaving this place. Surely someone has tried.

[And if not, he's going to be really unimpressed.]

The real answer to that is that we've all tried, in one way or another. And we just get shoved back in again. The only way to escape is when the Castle is ready to let you go.

[Meg is holed up in her room, reading a trashy romance novel and very much enjoying not being tortured.]

From what I've heard it's not really a possibility. But honestly, you even want to go back to that mess?

[Enjoying not being tortured is a good way to spend your time. Once he gets all this being mortal stuff down, he'll be doing the same.]

I don't like the idea of being stuck anywhere either, but it's better than the alternative. Doesn't seem like you can be followed here, given that it's been a week and anyone that would be tailing either of us would certainly have the juice to do it. I'm just going to consider this laying low and not worry about it, because frankly that suits my interest in survival.

Anything outside the area of Cair Paradisa drains all supernatural or technological beings of their powers. There's no portals, no time disruptions that we have control of. We're sorting through puzzle pieces - well - those who are good at them are.

The rest of us just try to prepare for the every day madness, and offer help when there's a chance of learning more.

We tried walking.

If we simply wait to be sent back, we will end up in the same positions we were before.

[Which does neither of them any good. Sure, it's a vacation right now, but it's one with a clock ticking over their heads.]

Who are those sorting through them?

That is not particularly effective in reaching other dimensions.

[Castiel is feeling better enough to be sassy, even though it thankfully doesn't really come across as clearly in text.]

They told me we can't leave.

That doesn't mean it can't be done.

[The idea of a countdown to getting sent right back to the moment she disappeared puts a particularly bad taste in her mouth. Might just be enough to get her off her ass and start fighting for something again.]

How could anyone here possibly know that given that they're still here? If that's how this works, count me in on fighting our way out on our own terms. Wouldn't be the first time, now would it?

I don't know for certain, but it can be inferred from several individuals having been here more than once.

[And the scenario of dragging someone off for awhile, then wiping their memories and sending them back, is something he's become far too familiar with lately.]

It wouldn't. If we were brought here, there must be a way to leave.

But we can't. They said. Well...unless the castle sends you home. It does that sometimes.

Now that you mention it, Crowley - the one here - acted like he had seen me before. Years ago, from the sound of it. I don't remember it at all. I didn't think much of it since he's a demon, but he's not from our world. Creepy.

[The irony of Meg calling something else creepy is not lost on her.]

Everyone that I've talked to seems to have given up on getting out. It's not all that encouraging. Do you really think we can figure it out if no one else has? It's not all amateur hour around here. Some of these people have been here for a long time.

[Not that that's saying much. He doesn't find Crowley as creepy as Meg does, but he does believe there's a lot that's important that the demon isn't telling them.]

Far stranger things have been done in my world. Crowley and I found Purgatory, though it had never been found before.

[Even though that'd ended up terribly. Castiel had also gotten in and out of the Cage, as well.]

Huh. Weird. But seriously, you're gonna go with the story of how you and Crowley, in your infinite collective wisdom cracked open that hole in the wall as a confidence booster?

I am only saying it was supposedly impossible and had never been done, and it was accomplished.

[So it might've been entirely stupid but it is indeed a confidence booster in a way.]

[Meg can't help but think that there are most definitely things older and more powerful than Cas and Crowley that probably knew perfectly well how to open purgatory and left it alone but there's no point in dredging up the past. She saw firsthand how much that whole thing screwed him up the first time around.]

I see. Well, need help researching? I can bring up some pizza...

I would not be opposed to company.

[And he should probably eat again anyway. Humans need to eat so often.]

[She knows better than that by now. Besides, she likes it when he gets all bossy and determined.]
