paradisa | [Dictated/action] Outside in the castle grounds

[Harry looks down at his journal, which is now firmly on the ground by a large tree. He had spent a moment writing within it, as he was now flying on his favourite broomstick around the castle grounds. Clutched in his right hand is a tiny, golden ball with it's wings flapping away. He has never dreamt that playing Quidditch within a strange castle could be so rewarding. He feels more at ease, now that he has gotten used to the castle and how it works. Of course, he still hasn't figured out what magic is at work.

He performs a loop-de-loop, as he hopes people would read what he has to say in his journal. It reads something like this:]

If anyone is listening or reading, I am out in the castle grounds practicing catching the Snitch on my broom. I wonder if anyone within the castle also owns a broom and can ride one. If so, would anyone like to join me in the air just outside the castle gates. Remus? Anyone else? Being back on the broom helps me relax so....if anyone wishes to have some fun outside, meet me by the largest tree, just outside the castle gates.

PS. Look to the sky.

[He smiles to himself, as he remembers the words he has written. Would anyone come? Who knew? He hopes that Remus or possible Professor Dumbledore might catch on to what Harry is saying.]

Sonata wants'ta fly!

[Harry had kept his eyes fixed onto the pages, as he flew just above the large tree. He lowered himself to the ground, as he saw words fill the page in reply. Smiling to himself, he began to reply.]

You do? Do you have a broom, Sonata?

Uh-uh! Sonata has a stage that can turn into a ship!

[That counts, right? It flies!]

Really? [Harry was a bit dubious that this wasn't some kind of joke. She did seem genuine in her enthusiasm though.]

We can play catching a ball whilst flying if you want. Or we can always play something else whilst flying. How does a stage turn into a ship?

It's a robot! Sonata can do a lot more than catching a ball!

D'you mind if I watch? Never seen a flyin' broom before.

A robot? Ok. [Harry just nods and smiles faintly. He had no idea about robots or flying ships.] Well, you're welcome to come along and fly with me if you'd like.

Of course. It's pretty simple really and it's fun. I learnt how to fly in my first year at school and I took it from there really.

First year of school? How young do they let you start ridin' those things?

Well, usually eleven. That's when we first start school and learn to ride a broom.

Eleven? That seems kinda young, don't it? Flyin's got to be kinda dangerous.

Well, not really. Some wizards or witches learn to fly brooms at younger ages on children's training brooms. We're born with the ability to fly and cast magic. At least, most of us are anyway.

[ Though he's never been much of a flyer, Remus didn't hesitate to make his way out to the grounds to meet Harry the moment he heard his voice through the journal. He's not been feeling well as of late, what with the full moon so close, but a little fresh air never hurt anybody. Certainly Remus' back needed a bit of a break from all the reading he'd been doing, as well.

When he reaches the open field, Remus stops and smiles when he sees Harry whizzing about on his broom, taking note of the obvious talent Harry has for the sport. Remus, himself, has never had a huge interest in Quidditch beyond typical House rivalry and the World Cup, but Sirius and James were right into it. He's glad to see that Harry has carried on the love of the game.

Lifting his fingers to his mouth, Remus whistles loudly for him and smiles. ]

Harry!

Remus! [Harry looked down to see his friend whistling up to him from below. He smiled, as he steered his Firebolt down to floor level.]

Glad you could make it, mate. Have you brought a broom?

Magic. Yet another thing I'd never heard of until I got to this place. Is everybody magic where you come from?

Not everyone. Some are born with magic, due to their own parents having magic in their blood. Others are born with magical powers, even though both their parents do not have any. Those are Muggle-borns. One of my best friend is Muggle-born and none of her family have any magical blood in them at all.

[ Remus chuckles softly and shakes his head, shoving his hands into his pockets. ]

I'm afraid I'm not much of a flyer, so I don't have a broomstick with me, unfortunately. I'd be happy to hang around for a while and watch, though.

So it's just like any other hereditary thing, genetics or some such? Reckon we ain't got magic back where I'm from.

No problem. [Harry had guessed that Remus was never that much into Quidditch like James or Sirius were. That was fine with him. Besides, Remus is more into learning and Defence Against the Dark Arts more than Quidditch. As much as Harry knew about the man anyhow.]

I could try and catch the Snitch if you want to release it somewhere for me.

[ Remus smiles as he glances over at the box containing the four Quidditch balls. With a nod, he makes his way over to open it, picking the snitch up and cradling it carefully in his hands. ]

Sure. Perhaps I could time you as well? Make it more of a challenge, mm?
And if my guess is correct, you're a Seeker?

Ok, sounds good to me. I've never been timed in catching a Snitch before, should be fun. [Harry nodded and looked to where Remus's hand was, clasping the Snitch.]

Yes, I am. Unlike my father, who was a Chaser. What was he like, Remus? On the Quidditch pitch.

James? He was a fair player. For some reason Quidditch rules were the only rules he actually followed... [ Remus chuckles, shaking his head. ]
He was never really a show-off, either, unless Lily happened to be watching him.
