[ 12 ] he's baaaaaaaaaaack (aka action/a little bit dictated to no one)
No, you're not listening to me! These people know us, know you! Would you quit being a dumb git and telling yourself they don't trust you--
[ Oops. Someone was taken from their world in the middle of an argument. At least the yelling is familiar yelling, Paradisa. In the time it has taken to read this bracket he has continued yelling, as well, because truly he's the dumb git here if he hasn't realized he's standing in the lobby yet. ]
-- can't very well just sit by and watch our friends just disappear! You know what kinds of people the Death Eaters are looking for, Moony, you know they'll try to recruit you and I swear--
[ Toto, I don't think we're in London anymore.At least it's less noisy. ]
Is this...? [ He starts patting himself down, looking for that goddamned journal. ]
Remus? Remus! James!

Remus? Remus! James!

[action]
... Sirius?
[Despite the late hour, she's wearing jeans and an itchy-looking sweater, and there's a large mug of coffee in her hands. She's got a pretty impressive pair of bags under her eyes, but when she sees her friend her face brightens up. No idea if he'll remember her or not, but a familiar face is good. It's happy - even if he's yelling? Something about death and the moon?]
Dude, way to vanish for awhile. Real reliable.
[She quirks up one corner of her mouth, almost too vaguely to notice, and keeps her fingers metaphorically crossed.]
Action!
It takes a moment for it to register that he knows that voice. He knows it well. He's been hoping, wanting, aching to hear his voice again ever since he left and he can't even get out from under the table fast enough.
He swears again when he bangs his head for the second time, but soon he's sprinting out of the library and making a mad dash down to the lobby, where he'd expect Sirius to be. He's practically tripping over himself to get there, wanting absolutely nothing more to see that familiar lop-sided grin again.
When he makes it to the bottom of the stairs and into the lobby, his heart is racing tenfold and when he sees Sirius, it practically stops. He has no time to contemplate what on earth Sirius was yelling about, nor how he seems to have grown, before he's sprinting toward him. Better brace yourself, Padfoot, Werewolf at two o'clock! ]
Sirius! Oh thank Merlin --
Re: [action]
He turns to look, and there she is, just about the same age as when he last saw her. ]
Alex...? [ He frowns a bit. ] Awhile? How long was I gone...?
[ And then he actually takes in the look of her. About the same age, yes, but she looks so worn out... ]
Are you alright? What happened to you? [ He moves to sit down with her slowly. ]

But Merlin, it's wonderful to have him again. It's wonderful to have come back while Remus is still here. Right back atcha, crushingly tight hug. Right back atcha, relieved shaking. ]
Remus— awh thank Merlin you're still here—
no subject
He wraps his arms tight around Sirius, burying his face in the crook of his neck to take in his familiar scent and let it wash over him again. Remus lets out a relieved little laugh, nodding. ]
I'm still here and you're back... You've no idea--
no subject
I don't know, a few months. It's October now. How long were you on the other side?
[At his last question, though, she curls in on herself a bit. Her expression freezes, and she glances sharply to the side. She's talked about her murder, of course, but with Vanyel, and that weird immortal British guy with the cockatoo hair. But not with a friend. Not with someone who wasn't there, someone who remembers her as lighthearted and loud.
She gives a shrug, not meeting his eyes as she takes another sip of coffee.]
Nothing, nothing happened. Just, you know, the usual crap.
[Serial murder totally counts as "the usual", right?]

It's been about a year on my side. Just finished school.
[ And you're right, Alex, it is kind of a horror to be back. He doesn't have time to waste here, not when people are losing their lives back home. Just thinking about it, his face darkens. ]
Alex? [ He gets that tone when he's hiding something. HE KNOWS YOUR GAME, ALEX. Not to mention the body language is more than obvious. ]
Alex, what happened?
no subject
That's right, Moony, I'm back... I'm back...
no subject
James went home, Pads. Not even a week after you left.
[ A pause, then he lifts a hand to trace his jaw lightly. ]
You look older. How much time has passed back home?
no subject
She tries to smirk.]
Thought you looked older. Lucky asshole, you're catching up to me and I still still look sixteen.
[It's no use, though. Sirius' question makes her heart pound in her throat, until she feels like she's going to choke on the answer. Her smirk wavers, but she manages to give a sharp little shrug and look up into his face.]
Some crap went down last month. I had a rough time, that's all. New loss, all that jazz.
1/2
[ Oh god, not that smirk again. It's a little uncomfortable though, because they both know it's not happening. Not the way it was about to happen last winter.
NOT TO MENTION THAT LINE. SIRIUS, CAN WE NOT. ]
no subject
[ Nope nope nope not getting away from it, Alex. He's not dumb, okay. ]
Care to... explain? What happened?
no subject
[The smirk just widens at his reply, and she answers in her most teasing posh voice, looking down her nose. She hopes that the lighter tone will help him forget about his concern, but when she has no such luck she just shrugs and tries to brush it off for the third time.]
And maybe later, it's no big deal.
[That's all you're getting for the moment, bucko. Subject change time!]
What've you been doing back home all this time? You said you were there for a year?
no subject
I've been home a year, Moony.
no subject
Let me guess ... those disappearances they talk about in the Prophet? Have those gotten worse?
no subject
They're gaining numbers. It's war there.
no subject
With a sigh, he just wraps his arms around Sirius' torso again, holding him just as tight. ]
Not going to lie, I saw it coming. I'm just ... I'm just glad you're safe, or ... well, as safe as you can be, I s'pose...
You are staying out of trouble, aren't you?
[ He knows the answer will be no, but he's going to give Sirius his a-typical sidelong glance anyway. ]
no subject
Remus knows him far too well, though. ]
A few duels, here and there. [ He pauses. ]
Professor Dumbledore is gathering a resistance though. James and Lily are joining, he's got Aurors too...
no subject
I don't have to ask whether or not you've joined, do I?
Merlin knows I'd follow you and James in a heartbeat, but Aurors ...
[ Aurors make him nervous, but you can't really blame him. Werewolves aren't welcomed in normal wizarding society, after all.
He shrugs, though the subject is obviously bothering him. He'll talk to you more about it later, Sirius, but right now he just wants to pay attention to you. ]
Really glad you're back, though. I managed well enough, but ...
no subject
I was in the middle of arguing with you, when I showed up here. I wanted to join, but you--
[ He almost rises to the hair trigger. That is exactly why he was arguing with him in the first place. ]
No, no I can get why you don't want to work with Aurors, but Remus, Voldemort-- he's looking for werewolves, I've heard he's gotten giants to side with him...
[ This whole time, those arms? Yeah, I hope you didn't like breathing, Remus, cause he's only holding you tighter and tighter. As much as he doesn't want to admit it, the idea of losing Remus-- of James, Lily or Peter too, for that matter-- is a thought that entirely terrifies him. ]
no subject
Siri-Sirius, too tight. I'm not going to float away, I promise, you can let go --
[ He's a little alarmed by the notion of Voldemort actively seeking out giants and werewolves, perhaps even sickened by it. Voldemort wouldn't have any trouble whatsoever of convincing any werewolf to join his cause. If Sirius was worried that he'd even consider ... ]
You know there's not a chance in the world that I'd join him, right? Not a single chance.
no subject
[ He... really doesn't want to tell her about the war. Really. She might not know his circumstances (you know- being the black sheep of a family with crazy purist ideals, when said ideals are starting to be enforced) but he doesn't really want to worry Alex with the idea that no one's safe back home.
So he just chuckles, and shrugs it off a lot more naturally than Alex seemed to manage. It hurts, though, knowing that he's always hiding his personal problems away from his friends. He thought he outgrew that. ]
Oh, you know. Finished Hogwarts. Watched my best mate finally get the girl. James told you about Lily, right? He tells everyone about her.
no subject
Hi. Uh, you probably don't know who I am but I couldn't help noticing you mentioned Remus and James. Death Eaters too. I'm from the wizarding world back home too. My name is Harry Potter and I'm the son of James Potter.
no subject
But when Remus tries to brush off the worry, he can't help but shake his head. ]
Do you think he'll give you the luxury, Remus? They find you back home, and you turn down the offer. Do you think a Death Eater's going to let you walk away from that...?
no subject
[She smiles back - almost a normal, genuine one this time - pleased that the conversation has moved on to something a bit lighter, if not entirely honest.]
Dude! He never said anything to me. So what, is he, like, married now or something?
no subject
Sirius Black, don't you dare assume that I don't know what they'll try to do to me. I appreciate your concern, but I am not weak.
[ He sighs softly and shakes his head at him, lifting his hands to cup Sirius' face to make him look at him. ]
Now. Stop your worrying, mother hen. We're here, we're safe -- for now -- and you can tell me all about everything later.
wow i almost made a sexy phase joke, shoot me now
[ He shrugs. ] Not yet. Won't be long, though, knowing them.
no subject
Cor...
[ He regards him with extreme scrutiny, studying his face before his eyes widen and he immediately pulls away. ]
Merlin's beard, you look just like him too! I'd recognize that ugly mug of his anywhere. [ Oh, Sirius, chuckling doesn't make you any less rude. More roguish to be sure, but more of a jokester asshole in equal measure. ]
Fine then. What was his position on the house team? You look school age, I can't imagine Jamie not forcing you to play. He's at least told you about his matches. [ Yes he's being presumptious. You can't blame him for not knowing (yet). ]
no subject
I'm glad... Really, it was so hard back home... Getting the Prophet in the mornings and reading about all the disappearances...
no subject
I don't blame you for worrying, you know. You have every right... But please, relax for now? We're safe, Sirius.
I missed you so much...
no subject
[ He brings a hand up to stroke his cheek with his thumb, giving him a soft little kiss to go with it. It really is hard, after hearing about so many of their classmates simply disappearing or worse. He's too used to the constant suspicion of everyone and everything. Too willing to believe that his next door neighbor is a spy for Voldemort, just for his safety's sake. ]
no subject
[ He leans into his touch, kisses him back gently. He knows Sirius isn't just going to let this go, but Remus will try his hardest to make Sirius feel safe again, at least while they're still here together. ]
omg i never got a notif for this fffffff
Hey, I can be flexible too. You never can tell.
[At his comment about James and Lily, Alex finally lets out a close-to-genuine laugh.]
I hope he shows back up here so I can tease him about it.
