Hello to all of our new faces- if we haven't spoken before, let me introduce myself. I'm Dr. Keller, and I run the clinic in town.

I'm looking for help again, if anyone is willing. If you don't have any previous medical experience, I would be willing to teach the basics- I don't have any magical powers, but I can do the non-magic stuff, and anything heavier than first aid would likely be handled by myself or Dr. Tam. A set of hands that can come around once a week or so and clean and straighten my files would also be deeply appreciated.

I know the basics for dressing field wounds, so I am some help there, but I also have sewing skills. Mostly I've run security for the clinics, but I think I can handle paperwork too.

How has your self-defense been coming along, Jennifer?

It is, which is why I'm glad I have this clinic and plenty of patients.

Pretty well, thanks for asking; if nothing else, I'm at least making time to work out every day and keep my strength up.

With the winter months in, I have no doubt you might have a steady stream of them with the usual ailments.

That's good, I am glad you are being diligent about it. If you wish a sparring partner, I am happy to play your opposite if you like.

Every year like clockwork. Maybe the castle won't heap any extra misery on top of that, though I doubt it.

That would be wonderful. I don't usually go armed, so while learning weapons is important, staying fit and knowing unarmed combat is much better for me.

Okay. Spill. I understand that the cure wasn't very pleasant to take, but why were you hiding it?

Especially against an armed opponent. It happens more than people like.

And I know enough of herbs to help with the seasonal maladies too, so rest easy.

Because of where it comes from. I'm willing to risk myself. But I'm not the only one who would be in danger if the knowledge of certain things ever got to the wrong person.

And the other person who might be in danger is not here. [Himself he could risk. He could not put Haibara in any more danger. Not when he couldn't even talk to her about the risks.]

So it came from the castle, then? I guess... in that case, I can't really blame you for not wanting to mess with it...

I get that- weapons can be lost or broken.

I'm glad. We can never be too prepared.

No, that's wrong. Or rather the reason I never intended to take it was because it was a gift from the castle. But this drug itself is from my world.
