[After a few days of mulling the problem over, Felix finally decided that simplicity was the best way to approach things. He wasn't sure how much of a chance he had at winning the game this year, but relying on luck and happenstance clearly wasn't going to do it.

Instead, the wizard took a sprig of mistletoe and pinned it on the inside of his coat where it could best work and not be seen by random passers-by.]

I'm not sure I will ever be entirely used to this kind of weather. It never got this cold in Mélusine. In relation, I'm working on a enchantment that might help stave off a chill, but I would like to employ some testing, if anyone would like to come out to the courtyard.

[It's a half-truth, of course. He had gotten the idea from Ashura and a few others, and was fairly certain the spell would work, but it was a blind for getting people to come to him.

But he won't rest there, of course. After that, the wizard will set himself to roaming the castle for opportunities to ensare others with the castle's kissing magic.]

He'll be out in the courtyard in a moment, flicking his magic about to figure out where Felix is. ]

[The Doctor doesn't suffer or feel the cold as humans do. While winter is surely cold, the temperature does not bother him any. In fact, he's still whizzing about without a need to employ extra layers.]

A variation on a spell that applies heat to an object. Casting it on a charm and directing the magic to provide an area of ambient heat instead.

You want me to come outside?

Outside in the snow?

[Well, it wasn't a perfect plan, but outside was away from most of the decorations, where people would have cause to be suspicious]

It would be hard to tell it the spell was working otherwise, wouldn't you say?

[Howl knows Felix enough to be suspicious... but he's also curious. And in the area. So rather than bothering to reply over the journals, he just shows up, a blue-and-silver scarf in the same shades as his jacket his only concession to the weather, his hair done up to be nearly as pale as the snow itself. He stops just short of actually approaching Felix, however, making a show of looking around the courtyard instead.]

You have a plan to save us all from the ravages of winter, then?

[Felix didn't approach Howl immediately, not wanting to make his gambit too obvious, giving the other wizard a look that was a mixture of amusement, jealousy, and the tiniest spark of desire. Had he been able to bring himself to subvert his vows enough to alter himself at all, he might have asked Howl how he did it. He was certainly vain enough. But old habits were tough to break. He'd have to settle for being ostentatious the old-fashioned way. Today that meant a deep forest green jacket and his favorite gold waistband. A heavy cream-colored scarf threaded with gold took the place of his usual cravat. On the more practical side of things, he'd taken to wearing tall leather boots that helped to keep the slush off his trousers.]

[He won't mention that he would have happily come to Crowley if he'd kept up the whining long enough, but what the demon won't know won't hurt him. He is, however, very certain he can award Crowley for the trip.

Felix grins arrogantly and holds out what appears to be a large glass marble bound inside a coil of heavy gold wire and suspended from a cord]

I've managed a similar thing on tea cups, but I would not trust that one with a person.

[ And there, Duke stops at his normal not-quite arms distance away. ]

It's a problem of distribution, really. Hold this.

[He hands Duke a charm made of wire coiled around a glass bauble]

[ Tea only really needs to be kept warm, and Duke usually just focused the heat on the bottom-

Felix you handed him a thing. Duke carefully turns this over in his hands, trying to figure out why it felt a little weird. ]

... Something stiff... metal? Wrapped around something very smooth.... doesn't feel like stone, too heavy for wood... glass?

[He arched one eyebrow, though he was more curious than skeptical. He knew a few ways to go about what Felix suggested, but he wanted to see what the other man had come up with.]

Oh? Good idea. Less to go wrong that way.

[Which might have been a mild dig at certain previous castle malfunctions, but his tone didn't convey it]

That's correct. Metal is a common channeling material for wizards of my school, and the glass is meant to be a grounding material. A gemstone would actually be superior, but those are harder to come by and I am reluctant to wish up something so valuable.

All you need to do is put the charm on, and I will cast the enchantment on it. Allow me...

[Felix lifted the charm again by the chord attached to the top of it, and slipped it over the top of Duke's head, the motion also doing the double duty of putting them in closer proximity. He could feel the pull of the mistletoe already, but he wanted to be sure it had reached Duke as well]

[Crowley stares at the proffered piece of jewellery for a moment]

This had better be worth all my effort.

[All the effort of walking about ten feet from the lobby to outside, gosh. Still he puts it on, next to that OTHER necklace he never takes off and waits]

... Is there a reason that casting the enchantment follows wearing the charm?

[ Felix are you going to kiss him and claim that was the enchantment as his face turns red from dammit kissing season- Duke tilts his head in curiosity but stops because that is movement and moving about just isn't terribly helpful.

And he's not standing stiff as a board, which is always good, although tracking roughly where Felix's head is might be a better sign.. ]
