[ The last few days have certainly been busy and exciting. The Mara however has kept a lower profile, keeping to the corridors and dark alcoves of the castle, watching and listening to the populace. It heard screams the other day and that was indeed beautiful, but why should anyone rest just yet?

Since early this morning, the Mara has been busy however. A discovery on the second floor gave it an excellent idea and it put that into action. Stepping into room 205 the Mara fiddles with the radio equipment found in there. Beside the radio the Mara has the Doctor's journal open and ready. It wouldn't want anyone to miss all the fun after all. ]

Good morning Paradisa. Wakey wakey now. Rise and shine.

[ The Doctor's voice comes over the radio and with it, a high pitched whine. ]

My, my, is that feedback? Let me just fix that.

[ The whine increases in volume and pitch and some might wonder if that was done on purpose before it slowly silences. ]

How are we all doing? Recovering well from our visitor? Time to welcome some more do you think? I'm so glad you agree. I've brought some friends along to join us, they were so lonely left running around the town and unable to join in when the castle has such rich pickings. Please do feel free to welcome the rats. They should be with us, hmmm, 'round about now. Let's hope you didn't leave out too much food. They might out stay their welcome.

[ Sure enough, on each floor there is a cage and the latches spring open on timers. Around thirty very lively rats will run out of each cage. Residents might want to think about tucking their trousers into their socks if they wear that type of thing. If they don't... Oh dear. Either way the announcement is followed by a drawn out chuckle from the Mara, pleased with itself at the little jape. The radio equipment is then switched off and the Doctor's voice carries through the journal for the remainder as he leaves the room. ]

I'm sure that will put a smile on your faces, but I bring you another gift. It has not bypassed my attention that there has been a measure of fear and sorrow and I, the Mara, wish to relieve you of that. I bring to you a new order by way of you taking the mark of the Mara to become like me. Give yourself over to temptation, pledge allegiance to me, forget your thoughts and allow yourselves to come into a new age, a new beginning, a new rule.

All I heard in that ... is 'rat hunting'. [Muttered the huntress, as she grabbed her bow and arrows.]

[Well Clyde has fun chasing the rats down the corridors and Aaron has to keep up with him.]

Man we got a big pest problem. And I'm not only talking about the rats.

[Oh and by the way, Aaron always have his pants stuck into his socks.]

[And people might find a little green snake, slithering around, calmly and methodically dispatching the rats that come his way. Eventually, he comes to settle on an open journal,his journal.]

Rats is the best you could come up with, really? You think that's enough to actually make people want to follow you. Bit of a let down, after the big bugger that was on the fourth floor.

[He knows SOMETHING is up with Five at this point. And he is having none of it.]

[There's a double meaning if there ever was one.]

Do have fun. I like a good hunt myself. Where are you perchance?

[Having a good meal there? Look at how well the Mara has provided for you.]

That? Oh, that was beautiful. Such damage it caused. I tip my hat to this place. As for the rats, that's just my little gift to show that I am a merciful leader. The last time I did something similar it was snakes. I like to switch things up.

Oh? What might that be? [Not talking about him are you Aaron? For shame. Nevertheless, the Mara is amused.]

My first assumption is that you mean the humans.

[There's a laugh across the journal.] Oh, I do. Is that the best you've got, the poor children?

[Castle is actually a little scared, but like hell he's going to show it.]

[Walking the halls slowly the Mara listens hard to the journal, seeing if it can pick up any back-ground noise for where this person is.]

Perhaps I only want to know so that I can help? We could hunt together.

[The Mara chuckles.] Oh, are you ever wrong about that.

Come now, it's a castle. There should be rodents here. I just made them a little more visible.

If you're looking for domesticated, are you ever looking in the wrong place.

Look, I dunno who the hell you think you are, but we got bigger problems to deal with. Stow your crap.

Last time someone tried to take over? It didn't go well.

[Oh Mara, you're dealing with the Mockingjay. There is no background noise, except the faint sound of creaking.]

And why would I want to hunt with you?

Darn. Still, plague-riddled ones would have lent this whole thing a much more sinister touch.

[He stops, listens, smells the air. The senses in this body are very good. Was that a floorboard? Upstairs? Something else. The Mara quickly turns around on the spot.]

Why wouldn't you want to? Hunting on your own can be so lonely.

[The Mara laughs. It would, and it's almost regrettable, but I'm not looking to kill off all you little humans and others with a plague.

What is that horrid vernacular you're using?

Take over? No, no, no. I want to make your lives better. And there's a reason why any take over attempt previously would have failed; I wasn't in charge.

I doubt you'll get many snakes here. I keep my eyes open for things like that.

Still, as evil villainous schemes go, you're about as frightening as a kitten right now. Just a little FYI for you, there.

Oh, I'm just keeping them on their toes! A word to the wise: you're not doing a very good job keeping your eyes open. You missed one.
