[Dictated; his tone is a little pinched and tense.]

If you are not busy, I would like to meet with you, perhaps in the library. We may try what we discussed at the party, and I have a favour to ask as well.

[He basically never asks for favours; it's something of a taboo to be this direct about something unless it's important... which this certainly is.]

It does not matter. As soon as possible.

[She's too lazy to find a pen, so have Steph's curiosity plain in her voice. It's generally not a good thing when people filter to you asking if they can ask a question.]

Yeah? What is it?

I am available now, if you will come to my room.

[He generally feels more comfortable writing in the journal than dictating, especially because this is sensitive information -- but he's actually in his room for once instead of gallivanting around the castle grounds, so it's probably... somewhat safe to speak.

Connor's tone, by contrast, is very serious. Important questions!]

Has Ezio said any word to you about my father?

Yes. This is fine.

[And he does! The castle has squished everything together, so it's not much of a climb up to Ezio's floor. He's never been there before, but he knows where it is -- he knocks on the frame, then takes a step back and waits somewhat impatiently.]

No. He's never said a word to me about your father. [This doesn't sound good.]

Is... everything okay?

[It's not like she's going to say no, but she is a little concerned when she hears that tone.]

Are you okay?

[Ezio opens the door in a timely manner, dressed in only leather pants and a loose shirt, the laces at the top unbound. He's been busy, but apparently not too busy to leave time for Connor; the lights in his suite are dimmed, though brighter light spills in from beyond his bedroom door, which is not closed completely.]

Connor. Why such urgency?

[He grunts softly at the news, falling silent for a moment as he tries to figure out how to actually... phrase this...]

You remember what I told you about my father. That he and my mother were no longer together when I was born, and that I have never met him.

Yes. I would like to discuss this in person if that is alright.

Right. He's an Englishman.

[Her tone is a touch softer than usual. Is his father here?]

[Connor's gaze instinctively flicks beyond Ezio into his quarters at first, sussing out any potential threat within -- which is stupid, this is Ezio, but he's on edge. It's been building.]

Edward Kenway.

Your grandfather. [A nod.] You've finally met him, then?

It's fine. Will be there soon.

[Thanks to the motorcycle she got for Christmas, it really is only a matter of minutes before Cass is making her way into the library and looking around to try to find Connor. For a moment, she forgets the whole be quiet rule and calls out for him.]

Connor? Are you here?

Yes.

[Another pause, though shorter this time.]

I was given his diary for Christmas, by the castle. I have seen it before; he left it with my mother -- but I showed it to Ezio. Because he cannot read English, I told him it was alright if he took it to you at his leisure.

[The implication in his tone is that this is just sort of the backstory, so she knows why he's asking to begin with.]

[Oh. That's surprising.]

I'm fine with that as long as you're fine with me reading it.

[Which he must be, if he gave Ezio the suggestion. But why would he even show it to Ezio?]

[He can't help it. His reaction is just sort of a brief stare of disbelief. Of all the...]

Why did you tell him who I am?

[He's somewhere in the stacks, though he's not really looking for books or anything. That would be condusive to what they're going to try; he has a blank (non-magical) journal tucked under his arm already.

But then he hears her... shouting... and he pokes his head out from behind a bookshelf. Hissing:] Yes! I am here.

[Cass please... it's a library... but anyway, he quickly makes his way over to her.]

Yes. I gave it to him on the condition he would tell you something before you read it. But a situation has arisen -- it has become pertinent that you are told now. My... father's father is here now.

[Ezio shrugs. It was a choice he made with good intentions, even if Connor seems unsure of it, and he still stands by that choice.]

Does a man not deserve to know where his legacy lies? Does he not deserve to meet a son who is honouring his family's legacy, rather than one who will cast it aside?

Your grandfather? Whoa. [It always trips her up a bit when people get actual blood relations here. Out of all the people, what are the chances?]

What is it, Connor?

[Connor gestures broadly, speaking a little more heatedly now. He's literally standing in the hall, maybe this is a poor decision.]

He is going to ask about my father! I cannot -- you cannot tell him.

[That's why he didn't bother reaching out to tell her before. He figured it was just never going to come up.]

Edward. That is his name. He is an Assassin as well. [Which was news to him.

He hesitates again, but mostly because he's not really entirely sure she's going to get the importance of this. The Templar/Assassin situation must seem pretty incomprehensible to outsiders, if Molotov is any evidence.]

My father is a Templar. I would not have Edward know this.

I have no intention of telling him that.
