Two Walls | dictated
He~llo~! Do I have this under control now? I hope so. Anyway~!
I have a question. There are a lot of things written in this thing, but since I can't write or read, that's a bit of a problem to me. Is there any way to be able to get it read somehow? I mean, magic does a lot of weird things. I don't know much about magic, since I basically have no storage of it at all because the Rukh doesn't like us, but you know, there's loads of magic here, so. It'd be useful to know.

[A pause, as he thinks.]
...why can't you read or write?
Dictated
[ ??? ]
Because no one taught me how to and now I can't learn.
Dictated
If there's one thing I've learned, yuir never too old ta learn anything. Jus' gotta have the right kind o' teacher.
[Of course, if it was a really desperate thing, David could telepathically copy his own skill in reading and writing into her mind, but that was kind of cheating. Not that that particularly bothers him.]

I've tried for years, but it seems impossible.
[ Like there was a mental block or something. Her mind sort of shuts off every time she looks at letters. ]

[ Sometimes yes, it could be worse. Sometimes he'd trade just about anything to be able to see again. ]

On the other hand, when the world about me shifts and I do not have my usual methods of navigation, I think there could be nothing worse.
Dictated
So you might walk into walls that you don't know about, and things like that?
Dictated
... and trip over things, and wear clothing incorrectly... [ He wore a dress once, thinking it was a massive sweater. ]
Dictated
It's possible to wear things wrong? [ because when it comes to her, it's hard wearing an armor wrong.... ] Then you should have clothes that are easy to tell back from front on.
Dictated
... It was one of those times where the castle takes one someplace and replaces their clothing. [ He wears things with buttons. Those are easy to know front from back. ]
Dictated
How weird. And interesting.
Dictated
Accurate - if you depend on magic for everything, what would happen if there was none?
... It does fall into both.

Things would fall apart and people would panic. I've seen it happen. Well, sort of?
I'd have liked to see it. [ there's a grin in her voice. ]

So you're not a human is what you're saying. Okay, I can run with that.

Dictated
Something similar was happening home. [ Except it was give up the technology, or all die. ]
[ Awkward silence. Was that "I would have liked to see you in a dress"?
He's ... going to pretend he didn't hear that. Because that is, ah, odd. ]
Dictated
[ what why? why wasn't he continuing on the topic, wasn't it fun? ]
What kind of clothes is it normally that's a go for you, then?

[But, anyway. He's been friends with non-humans before. Not a big deal.]
So what're your people like?
dictated;
We're really strong, and we have heightened senses, and we're fast. We were born powerful predators, and originally come from a place most people just call "the Dark Continent".

What about like animals and stuff? What do you guys hunt for food?

But up until awhile ago, it was completely empty. So god only knows what's out there now.
dictated;
A completely empty forest? No way, that shouldn't be possible unless they've all been hunted down.

Dictated | super late, email lied, found during tab cleanup-
[ Fun? Awkward for him, maybe that's why it was fun for others. ]
Pants, long sleeved shirts, long coats. Boots that go to the knee. Gloves have become more of a seasonal thing. [ He's boring, you won't see much skin other than his neck and face- ]
Dictated | no prob. it happens.
[ Awkward could be cute. ]
Doesn't all that get warm in hot weather? Toga are much easier to wear and everything. [ That's what she wears most of the time, anyway. ]
Dictated
The technology ended up the one removed. They indicated they had talked to others before coming to use this plan, but I wonder if they realize how much trouble it still creates.
[ Find him and make him feel awkward and decide then too- ]
Not particularly - although that might have to do with me avoiding summer in the desert and spending it in regions with ice that never melts.
... a toga is a cloth wrap? [ He thinks he read that in a book around here somewhere... ]
Dictated
[ that a challenge? ]
You don't like warm weather very much then?
It is! They're comfortable.
