He~llo~! Do I have this under control now? I hope so. Anyway~!

I have a question. There are a lot of things written in this thing, but since I can't write or read, that's a bit of a problem to me. Is there any way to be able to get it read somehow? I mean, magic does a lot of weird things. I don't know much about magic, since I basically have no storage of it at all because the Rukh doesn't like us, but you know, there's loads of magic here, so. It'd be useful to know.

Eeh, so there's all this magic I've never heard about, but it's impossible to get one that reads things out loud for you?

Because no one taught me how to and now I can't learn.

Well, magic's not really my thing, so I couldn' tell ye for sure. It's jus' that there's already s'much magic packed inta this wee book, I'm not sure how much more it can take.

If there's one thing I've learned, yuir never too old ta learn anything. Jus' gotta have the right kind o' teacher.

[Of course, if it was a really desperate thing, David could telepathically copy his own skill in reading and writing into her mind, but that was kind of cheating. Not that that particularly bothers him.]

... I don't see why it would not read to you. It reads to me, although my circumstances for needing it are different.

Yeah, sort of like that. That way we know that those who have passed always are with us. I dunno about the complicated things, really, but I guess it's because we have abilities that other people don't have.

... It is a matter of perception. I may be blind, but I can still... remember everything dear to me, hold a weapon, use skills. Tell falsehoods if I was so inclined. In that, I am not so poorly off.

On the other hand, when the world about me shifts and I do not have my usual methods of navigation, I think there could be nothing worse.

I know that, the country I serve was in a war with a kingdom built on magic, a few months ago. And Lady Scheherazade says that it's better not to depend on magic for everything, anyway, or people can't advance. Or something like that, it's a bit too complicated for me.

What kind of clothes is it normally that's a go for you, then?

We're really strong, and we have heightened senses, and we're fast. We were born powerful predators, and originally come from a place most people just call "the Dark Continent".

What about like animals and stuff? What do you guys hunt for food?

Different kinds. We get food the same way the other soldiers does, though. But hunting is fun too! Most of all strong prey!

There's not a ton out there in the forest here, as far as I know, but you might be able to find something to hunt.

What is there in it?

Uhhh, animals, probably? I haven't really been out there too much.

But up until awhile ago, it was completely empty. So god only knows what's out there now.

A completely empty forest? No way, that shouldn't be possible unless they've all been hunted down.

Yeah... stick around long enough and you'll find out that the castle does a lot of stuff that shouldn't be possible.

Technology mixed with magic, it was resulting in a mutation - if it was continued to be used, there would shortly be no planet. Options were "get rid of those who use it"- humanity, or get rid of all the technology.

Pants, long sleeved shirts, long coats. Boots that go to the knee. Gloves have become more of a seasonal thing. [ He's boring, you won't see much skin other than his neck and face- ]

...huuuhm. That so. So which'd be best? Easiest would be to get rid of both at the same time, but then there might not be a planet either way.

Doesn't all that get warm in hot weather? Toga are much easier to wear and everything. [ That's what she wears most of the time, anyway. ]

The technology ended up the one removed. They indicated they had talked to others before coming to use this plan, but I wonder if they realize how much trouble it still creates.

Not particularly - although that might have to do with me avoiding summer in the desert and spending it in regions with ice that never melts.
