I've noticed some definite strangeness between my world and others.

[ Well, beyond all the terrible things that happen. ]

Does anyone else have any culture clash noticed? Mine is that magic isn't shared. If you know magic of one country, it is more or less illegal to go to another. Seeing magic users of different worlds work together is something of a shock.

Just give people something or someone to hate enough, and anyone can band together.

It's pretty much the exact opposite of that where I'm from. Wizards tend to travel more and work together more than most people.

I can't tell if it is sad that it is so accurate, or something else. Hopeful that banding together is always an option?

Sounds like a far nicer place. Its mostly out of "If they know how our magic works, they'll attack us more effectively" that no one who knows magic gets to travel.

Maybe that's the difference; all the wizards in my...universe have taken the same Oath. We're working to do the same things, in the end, even if we have different ways of doing it.

Yeah. We have our conflicts like everyone else, of course, but I've worked in different countries, different planets- even different galaxies. It's pretty cool, actually.

I've noticed one or two, yes. There's nothing I'd call magic where I'm from, and the..."technology" has advanced quite a bit for many of the people I've met here. Just about everyone, in fact.

Are the systems of magic different in every country where you are from?

Personal differences, more or less, but not "Oh no, you use Roland magic, you can't come into Nelpha!"

... or really, "You're from Roland, what are you doing in Nelpha"...

Yes. It makes for telling who is attacking you fairly easy, but sometimes it is too late by the time that magic is used.

The latter is true for most types of magic, I would think. Does being able to identify the origin make it easier to counter or avoid?

Yes. Estabul magic requires some speaking - and if you cancel the sound in the area, they can't cast. ... Or when they try casting a group spell, and you disrupt the sound, sometimes they don't all cast the same one.

Yes, exactly! And the bathing closets. I rather enjoy those.

Pretty much, yeah. Are the styles of magic really so different from place to place?

Not having to go outside, or use a pot is always a plus. And the lighting - so far as I have seen, no chance of accidental fires.

Very noticeably. Estabul has to do this .. thing with their hands above their head, and the visible pattern of the magic is much different from that of Roland - rings around them, rather than a seal before them.
