[Katherine is enjoying the Olympic-sized, heated, indoor pool that the castle has. It's been a long time since she's actually thought to relax in this way and it's doing her good to clear her mind. In the process, though, she does also feel certain things rattle loose on her, making her thoughts very productive to say the least.]

I just realized today, that after speaking with you in the city that one afternoon, we've never spoken again. I was wondering if you might be up for another talk. [To be honest, she's mostly curious if Morgana will even reply to her.]

[She'll continue swimming for a bit, then pause, moving to turn the journal toward her a bit more at the edge of the pool. Her arms cross over the cooler cement, supporting her weight as she turns to a new page where she jots down the following question. Anyone listening might hear the slow slosh of water, and the slight damp that comes from her hand resting to the page.]

[ Hearing splashes (water? inside?), Gwaine follows the sounds until he finds the pool. He eyes the pool like one would a dog that may or may not bite. His trepidation is such he does not notice the woman swimming in it until she is almost in front of him. His jaw drops open and his eyes grow wide. That is more skin than he has ever seen before. ]

[Katherine pulls her weight up to the side of the pool, her arms resting beside her journal, closing it for the moment as she looks up at the child. Licking her lips, she cants her head to keep her attention to him.]

Are you lost? [It's not that she doesn't like children, it's that she hasn't truly been around them in centuries.]

[ When she speaks to him, he abruptly flushes bright red and turns away, looking everywhere except at her. ]

Er...

[She sighs, exhaling with a straining amount of patience.]

Are you new? [She can see the flush of color to his cheeks, so she'll make sure to not actually get out of the water.]

[ He nods, still resolutely not looking her way. Mid-nod, he starts shaking his head. He peeks at her and his blush darkens. He has to clear his throat before he is finally able to squeak answer and it is solely thanks to his upbringing that he is even verbalizing anything. ]

I think. I guess. People here say they've known me, but I don't remember them.

Oh? [Her fingers drummed lightly on the edge of the pool.]

What's your name?

[ Manners kick in and he bows politely. ]

My name is Gwaine, my lady.

[ When he straightens, he makes the mistake of meeting her gaze. He trains his eyes back on the floor, the tips of his ears turning pink. ]

Oh. [She's truly startled, because this isn't exactly how she had anticipated their next encounter.]

Are you concerned that people know you?

No.

[ His manner says otherwise. He scuffs his shoe against the floor. His pride, however, will not allow him to admit to it. ]

I see. [She lifts her hand, sweeping her hair back off her shoulder, hearing it slap to the water a bit.]

Did you come in here to swim?

A part of me thinks that might be why we're here. Why we have losses. To learn.

[Have a small hum of appreciation. She's certain she recognizes that handwriting.]

You do realize that didn't answer the question, don't you?

[ He realizes. It's hard to put into words. Never mind the fact that he thinks he has several things to learn. ]

In a way it did. I have something to learn as much as you do. We all do. But, this is the same as in life. Do you think that's why we're all here? To learn something?

[Oh Stefan, why do you have to be so lofty with your thoughts?]

Aren't you feeling existential this evening. [And how dare you say she has things to learn!]

I was thinking... base terms, Stefan. Shall I create little ticky boxes for you? Will that make your life simpler to reply to these things?

[ It's the burden of being Stefan Salvatore. ]

Just call me Samuel Beckett. [ Everyone has things to learn, Katherine! You're not the paragon of wise decisions or self awareness. Maybe self absorption... ]

Life has never been that simple. Mine, yours. If life were simple, we probably wouldn't be here. We probably wouldn't have any questions beyond what we see right in front of our faces. [ Jesus, he did fall into a puddle of existentialism tonight. ]

I never was a fan of multiple choice. I always did well on the essay.

[Frown. You are taking all the fun out of her swim, Stefan. This is not the light conversation she wanted to have to clear her head.]

I believe the phrase is 'my journal entry, my rules'. [Not that she likes rules, but she's doing a bang-up job following them here.]

I haven't... heard that phrase before. [ Funny how that works. Did she come up with that herself? ] Huh. [ But a shrug. ] You're right. Your journal entry, your rules.

[That's exactly why it was stated that she's not normally fond of rules. Because, she's not, but in this place it's smart to at least pretend to be.]

Besides, wouldn't the fact be that I'm asking questions be an answer in itself.
