[Around nine in the morning, just as the initial confusion about the lack of a sunrise is setting in, this kid has made himself comfortable in a chair in the lobby, where he's playing a Game Boy and enjoying a healthy breakfast of dry Froot Loops. The journal picks up all of the lovely crunching and electronic beeping from this activity.]

Well, it's a good thing this isn't foreboding at all. No sunrise is always an excellent sign. 

[There's a faint sound, like the skittering of nails on a window pane. Nico reaches up and gives the window next to him a good thump.] 

Knock it off, you're not scaring anybody!

The sun isn't up? Isn't it supposed to be?

It's after 9:00 in the morning. The sun should have been up hours ago.

Maybe it's really cloudy today.

[necrologio]

Somehow I really doubt that. It looks like nighttime.

[siebter]

I can't tell, but that sounds pretty weird.

It is. Looks like the castle is taking Friday the 13th a little too seriously.

What does that mean?

[necrologio]

It's a stupid tradition from Earth. The number thirteen is supposed to be unlucky, for some reason.

[siebter]

That's silly. Why would a number be unlucky?

[necrologio]

It's not. It's just a stupid superstition.

[siebter]

I think one's a worse number than thirteen.

[necrologio]

Why's that?

[siebter]

It's kind of...lonely.

[necrologio]

Well, yeah, sometimes. But not everything that's alone is lonely.

[siebter]

I guess not...

[necrologio]

[A brief awkward silence. Nobody is surprised.]

You've been alright today, haven't you? I mean, with all the weird stuff going on.

[siebter]

I'm fine! I can't see anyway, so I don't mind that it's dark...but I keep hearing weird noises.

[necrologio]

I think everyone's hearing those.

[siebter]

It's still scary...

They probably aren't even real. Don't let them get to you.

I guess...

[ Reluctantly... ]

[A distinctly uncomfortable pause.]

Um, how was the rest of Paris for you? I mean - did you like it alright?

[Oh so hesitant. It would be difficult to obtain a level of hesitancy higher than this.]

[siebter]

It was nice! I liked being able to see my friends while I could.

[necrologio]

I guess that would have been nice. Pretty much the only good thing about that trip.

[siebter]

So you liked it?

[necrologio]

What, Paris? Of course not.
