[Ianto is leaning in the doorway, a mug of coffee in his hand and a brush leaning against the wall. He was up with the dawn and had cleaned the hub, and fed Myfanwy before moving on to the shop front brushing out the dust of the tourist shop into the street. He settles against the jamb watching the inhabitants open up their shops and cafes.]

 You know for a place that can be so dreadful, there's something to be said for sunny mornings on quiet streets.  At the end of the day it's not the worst place to live. I imagine some of you have far more terrifying origins.

My parents murderer married me when I was 14 and has since tried to kill and send me to jail ever since. I'm technically wanted by the authorities and I'm about to get in a boat with him. I have no home, no income, no chance of ever becoming anything.

[he glances at Ianto, vaguely annoyed. time was, Ianto would just TELL him what he was thinking about, spare no expense. maybe it was just because there wasn't pizza or chip butties or booze involved. or maybe this place was changing him too much. ... orrrrrrrrrrrr you know it could be that the last time they spoke, Barney'd told him he was giving up and that hadn't gone over too well, but he wasn't considering that. there was no way anything was ever really HIS fault]
