[It occurs to Ezio very quickly that he has never spent any considerable amount of time with Cristina where they weren't also trying to ensure they weren't being watched or caught by various parents, guards or chaperones. Sneaking away from supervision for time alone was practically a staple of their relationship, their thing, and while it had always added a bit of extra excitement and thrill of the don't-get-caught variety, sometimes you just wanted to be left alone. Ah, the plight of teenagers in the Renaissance.

Later on, other things had kept them apart, but here, Ezio realizes there is nothing stopping him from seeing her whenever he'd like. They live in the same castle. She doesn't remember a husband, and even if she did, he is nowhere near them. He could knock on her door (or window) at any hour and his only worry would be whether she let him in or not.

So, that in mind, he decides he's going to see her... and he's going to make it good.

Her room is on the third floor, and it's not hard to figure out where her window is from the outside. It's not a stretch to climb up there, either, but it's better to throw small rocks at her window until she notices. Why not invoke their teenaged selves, remind her what great times they had? Then she can see what he has for her at the foot of the castle: two finely-saddled horses and a packed picnic, as well as his charming self.
