100.1 - (Voltorb is 100 in the National Pokedex)

[sadly, there's no music at the start of tonight's broadcast - just faint city sounds through Mark's open window before he pipes up into the journal]

Okay, y'know what the worst thing about Castelia City is, fellow residents? They've never heard of Leonard Cohen. I've been to four music stores so far, and - okay, sure, I found myself a job working in one of them, so I can pay for stuff while we're stuck here. But I bought a few CDs, and so far, they all suck ass. If you're looking for something to do, I wouldn't suggest hitting up the live music circuit.

Then again, I guess we're all kind of still recovering from being flooded out, rescued by a dragon-thing, and dumped here in this city all at once, so. I'll go easy on the rants. But, hey, if there're any of you actually looking for something to do, or read, we had a nice little poem about the lobsters, if anyone missed the greatest thing since the Tale of Gilgamesh, and Maya was cool enough to give our new kids Ten Tips From A Veteran, complete with a shout-out to yours truly! This'll be particularly useful to our new arrivals: Yuuya, Rick, Quinn, Nina, Noah, Glenn, Ein, and Desmond.  Somebody else showed up, too, some really angry guy, but I didn't get a name.

Murmur mur, mur-mur.

What?!

Murrrrrrrrrr.

[Mark peers down at his newly-acquired Pokemon and realizes it's chewing on a CD case]
Oh.  Um.  Shit.

Anyone know what these things eat--?   Maybe we should make this sort of a  ... impromptu info-sharing broadcast.  Break from the norm a little.   Tell you what.  You all start sharing info, and I'll stop playing this.

[and in goes one of his horrible new CDs.  better make it quick for the sake of your eardrums, folks!]

I already had a Pokemon before I came here, actually.

[Alright, this sounds like a person who could know something about these creatures!]

Um, he's kind of a floating rock, though. I don't think I've ever seen him eat anything...

[...Well, that was helpful.]
notjamesbond: (excuse me?)

[personal profile] notjamesbond 2012-04-03 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's...odd. Um, keep it out of your CD cases?

[A pause.] Did you scare it off?
notjamesbond: (go on i'm listening)

[personal profile] notjamesbond 2012-04-03 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
You could always ask somebody around here, considering we're now in a place where they primarily take care of these creatures. Maybe they sell food down in the shop?

I believe there are certain foods just for Pokemon. There are people like Pokemon breeders who specialize in that sort of thing.
wilder: (schemeing heh)

Well, I've learned that you proooobably shouldn't feed it spicy foods unless you have a way to put out fires on hand.

Seems like this place is a whole world by itself. Kinda reminds me of home, in a weird way.

Pory! Porygon!

Not now Porygon, I'm talking to Mark.

[He clears his throat.]

Anyway, mine doesn't seem to wanna eat anything. Like...he's solid, but I dunno, he almost seems like an AI of some sort. If I had my laptop I could figure it out, but all I've got is one of these pokedex things, and it's not terribly helpful.
wilder: (NYAN NYAN NYAN~!)

Oh it only got the curtains- no big!

[personal profile] zeke_developer 2012-04-03 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. I went into one of those Pokemon Center places, 'cause I wanted to know what the deal was with Porygon here following me around, and the lady behind the counter gave it to me, said I was supposed to use it to analyze and identify the pokemon around here, or something. It's a fascinating little device, but it's not good for much beyond getting information on these things. I think I'mna try going out into the field tomorrow, see what I can find out.

What is this, psychological warfare?

Smeargle!

Oh man, even he's covering his ears!

[personal profile] courageous_wit 2012-04-03 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you can ask at the Pokemon Center. They help trainers take care of their Pokemon.
wilder: (great zelos wisdom time!)

[personal profile] wilder 2012-04-03 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh don't worry about it! I can talk my way outta it.

Ye Gods, that music really is terrible.

Anyway, I had mine from before, Nikola gave it to me on one of the many times he's screwed up. Whatever you do, don't give them coffee.
notjamesbond: (anathema what are you doing)

[personal profile] notjamesbond 2012-04-03 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ask people to give you some out of the goodness of their hearts?

[HE'S TRYING TO BE HELPFUL, MARK, SOB.]

Suit yourself. There's an awful lot of world to be had here, if the map's any indication, and the technology here's like nothing I've ever seen before, so I kinda wanna see what I can, while I've go the chance.

[Truthfully, he's just glad to be on dry land, after his rather harrowing experience at sea. Being hydrophobic during a flood is not a pleasant experience.]
