[The Master is sitting at a cafe in Striaton City. His swablu is sitting on the Master's shoulder, a compromise from wanting to sit on his head. The Master has no desire to even remotely resemble the Black Guardian. He and the swablu are both enjoying some food and drinks. The Master opens his journal and addresses the other residents, ignoring any strange looks the people of this world might give him.]

Well, my fellow residents, I've had an interesting day. I took the bicycle the castle so kindly provided and went to Striaton City early this morning to learn more about these pokemon creatures. It was quite informative, particularly on the subject of training.

I've decided to train my swablu, who is now named Ararauna, in the hopes she will evolve. I'm informed this requires training and experience in Pokemon battles. So, is anyone interested in a match?

I recommend you do, especially if you intend to train a pokemon. You did receive one?

Yep, a cute little candle-guy. What about you?

Oh, yes. I have a swablu...a bird, rather like a parrot, except it's wings resemble clouds.

[optimystic]

That sounds so cute! But can it actually fly? I feel like clouds wouldn't make very good wings.

[traken_master]

You would think they'd have trouble creating lift, but Ararauna manages quite well.

[optimystic]

How neat... I guess this place really does have all kinds of Pokemon.

[traken_master]

It would seem so, though, I had never heard of Pokemon, before coming here.

[optimystic]

Yeah, we don't have them in my world either. I only saw them back when this place turned into a Pokemon world before.

[traken_master]

I didn't know the residents had been here before. Why do think we were brought back here?

[optimystic]

I don't know! It does this sometimes with Earth too. We've been to Los Angeles, Paris, and even New York. Maybe it just really likes certain worlds.

[traken_master]

[The Master sighs, a bit irritated.]

As if I didn't get enough of that from the Doctor! Why Earth? No offense, my dear, but there are other, more fascinating, worlds in the cosmos.

[optimystic]

My thoughts exactly! We should go see some of those.

[traken_master]

Yes, but I'd rather go of my own accord, not at the whim of the castle.

[optimystic]

You can just go to different worlds on your own?

[traken_master]

Certainly, in my home universe; here, I'm not sure what exists beyond this world.

[optimystic]

Woah, that's so cool!

[traken_master]

'Cool.' Yes, I suppose it is that. [He chuckles.] I'll have to test what can be done in this reality.

[optimystic]

Let me know what you find out! If it turns out you can magically teleport into the Dead Zone, I think everyone would want to know that.

As you wish. Though, I'm not sure why you would want constant access to the Dead Zone, interesting as it is.

[optimystic]

So people could explore it! I think everyone wants to know what's out there, it's just dangerous getting there and back.

[traken_master]

Ah, yes, but the dangers are part of what makes it interesting.

[optimystic]

I don't know... people can't even use their powers out there, it doesn't seem like a fair challenge.

[traken_master]

Challenges aren't supposed to be fair, child. They're supposed to be difficult and force you to learn and grow.

[optimystic]

But there's a difference between a handicap and... throwing a two legged dog out into a field and telling him to play fetch, you know?

[traken_master]

I'd hardly describe anyone here in such terms. Being able to cope and adapt is a sign of intellect and true capability.

[optimystic]

[hmm] I guess that's a good point. I'll have to give it some thought.

Let me know what you decide, my dear. It is an interesting question. Is there anything in particular you hope to discover in the Dead Zone?
