[After talking with a few people, Xena has gotten an idea.

For once, this idea does not involve violence.

No. It involves reading. Xena has a number of books spread out in front of her. There’s Homer, a book of Greek myths, Greek and Roman history, even the Bible has a couple of stories marked. And she’s been making “corrections,” striking through and adding commentary. Meanwhile, she dictates into the journal.]

It’s funny how many people I know seem to have made the history books. Not that the books seem to have gotten much right. Still, it’s good to know people haven’t forgotten everything they did. [And that they do seem to have forgotten Xena. She’s perfectly fine with that.]

You knew Hercules?

Yeah, I know. I mean, I never met him personally but I knew someone who did.

Friend of a friend sort of thing, huh?

Yep. He's a great guy; I owe him a lot.

We've had some gods here before, but never Hercules. [ She shouldn't be surprised, though. ] You're familiar with all the Greek pantheon?

[ Like all the gods? ]

Kinda. But I thought we already talked about Hercules and the gods before.

Yeah, I guess we did. Got something else to talk about? Not a lot's going on on this end.

I know more of them than I would like. [Personally knows them.]

Judging from the stories, some of them weren't always so pleasant. [ She just told the story of Castor and Pollux to Nanako, too. ]

Um, well... You left and came back, right? Do you remember both times being here or just this time?

Just this time. Weird how that rule's changing, huh? [Oh, she noticed and paid attention. She might not make a big deal out of it, but she does keep an eye on the general conditions of Paradisa.]

Cupid's a decent guy. He was here for a while. And Hades is okay; I've done him a favor or two. Honestly, the ones you have to worry about the most are Hera and Ares. Not that they all don't have nasty tempers.

Eris was once here as well. [ Every time she spoke into the journal, she got bad feelings. ]

Haven't met her in person. [Yet. Or this time around. She met her during her last stay.] Fought in that little mess she made with the Trojan War, though.

Yeah, weird. Especially 'cause I'm starting to remember my first time. We talked before, and Ares was here.

Funny, I was just recounting that story a little while ago. Some of the blame is placed on Castor and Pollux, and Lynceus and Idas, for leaving Helen alone at the feast.

That's a new one. I thought it was just the new arrivals.

Me too. But I'm definitely remembering stuff. There used to be a lot of gods here: Apollo, Hades, and I even think that cup-bearer guy was here. Gany-something.

You know one thing these books keep getting wrong? No one seems to think about what Helen wanted.

Of course, toward the end, it was more about pride than anything else.
