[Here Spike was, coming back to his room after some quality time at a bar, innocently going about his day. Usual stuff. When he gets there, he doesn't bother to flip the lights on, and throws his jacket to where a chair usually sits -- only to hear it fall to the floor instead (...coincidentally causing the journal to fly out of it...). Huh.

He doesn't dwell on it though. Maybe he moved the chair and doesn't remember. Or he's more tipsy than he thought, which is always possible. Then he takes a step and immediately runs into something.]

Ow.

[-- what the? That's when he flips on the light to see a pile of shopping bags. ...

Recognition (very) slowly dawns on him as he has a better look around and gets incrementally more disturbed. Why... is he in Faye's room? How does that even happen? Did he forget what floor he was on? That's when he hears someone (who definitely isn't Faye) call out from the bed to turn off the light. That snaps his attention back to ask a much more pressing question.]

Who the hell are you?

[ That...isn't Katara's voice. And once again, this bed smells different, only something he's noticing now that he's really waking up. So Joshua sits up groggily, rubbing at his eyes and looking over.

Oh that guy looks familiar... It's kind of impossible to forget that look, even with Joshua's terrible short-term memory.

Looking around, Joshua quickly recognizes the room as well, which only earns Spike an odder look. Wasn't he supposed to be in Katara's room the whole week? ]

...Hm. I guess if you came to give Valentine a late night visit, you must be pretty disappointed right now.

[ Seriously Spike, a booty call? Although Joshua's part probably looks much worse. ]

[He's already regretting asking that question. Spike does what he can to avoid the details of what Faye does in her spare time, but it's hard when the castle rubs it in his face like this. It'll take him a minute to stop gaping when he figures out who it is on the bed.]

What? [You're boning Joshua now, Faye? That shouldn't even be legal. Although he really shouldn't be so surprised. (Why is he not leaving? It's like he's paralyzed by how hard he's judging her right now.)] ... I must've got the wrong room.

So have I!

[ He groans, flopping back. ]

This should be the other girl's room. Why am I here now...?

[ And why is Spike here and not Faye? No Joshua doesn't actually care about that. Quiet contemplation...before he suddenly jumps out of bed and rushes over. ]

Ah, wait! You just had that door opened, right?!

[Spike isn't really paying attention to what Joshua is saying, or it's all coming to him in delayed bursts. If only he knew he just doomed them both...]

What other girl? [Maybe you should start explaining, because he is so lost right now.]

The waterbending girl. At least I know her room is clean.

[ Spike GTFO of his way, so he can try to open the door. UUUGH FAIL. What is this? Joshua's suddenly feeling suspicious. Losses...didn't work this way, did they? Shouldn't he have been in Katara's room the whole week? ]

[Okay that doesn't make any sense to him either, but now he's sharply focused on the door. Suddenly he's getting suspicious too. Of all the goddamn stupid...]

Is this a castle thing?

[ PUNCHING THE DOOR ALWAYS HELPS. It doesn't. But he does it anyway, before pinning Spike with a glare. ]

You shouldn't have shut the door! Now we're both probably trapped in here.

[...in Faye's room? He frowns and scratches at the back of his neck. Is it just him, or are they getting more random?]

How long have you been in here?

Hm I don't know, what time is it? When I went to sleep it was still that other girl's room.

[ Damn what was her name he only spent two whole days with her... But gosh he's still so sleepy. And it's dark outside the window. ]

Any room I'm in, whoever's with me is trapped too, I guess. [ He's the only constant in this situation, he's noticed! ] But why are you here? And why isn't Valentine?

And why did I get moved in the first place? If this keeps happening...

[So it's Joshua's fault, basically is what he's getting from that.]

Don't ask me. [So helpful, Spike.] Can't be too trapped if you moved.

I didn't move. Why would I choose to be in Valentine's bed?

[ And he'll give one last yank on the door before giving up and turning away. Man he's starting to get very irritated over this. ]

...But it's better than no bed. And she's not here to yell at me for being in it, so I'm going back to sleep until morning. You do what you want.

[ Kerflop. ]

[Squint.......ing. Is he really just going to go back to sleep?]

Sure thing. I'll just be working on the door problem. [Because he doesn't entirely believe you anyway. (Who knows why...) That, and it's starting to occur to him that this is real life, so don't expect him to be very quiet while he's brainstorming.]

[Someone should've found the journal and closed it, you know. Because... guess what? You guys definitely have an eavesdropper right now. Who just heard that entire thing.

Of course, she's missing a lot of context, and she's... not really sure exactly what's going on here. But, whatever. She can figure that out later. There are more important things to attend to right now.]

Where are you?

[Pay no attention to all the banging and swearing going on in the background before it finally occurs to him that he should check his journal and see if this is going on elsewhere... and spots it open on the floor. Oopes.

And of course, he sees her message first.]

Still in the castle. [How much did she hear?] The door's jammed.

[~~Well, two-year-old tantrums like that are pretty much par for the course as far as Spike is concerned, so.~~ Fortunately for him, she stays patiently on the proverbial line until he responds.]

Do you know the room?

[Funny, even though this is in no way remotely his fault, he's still reluctant to tell her which room it is. Maybe he's hoping he can disappear before he has to listen to any of Faye's screaming. Or you know... have anyone find out about the escaped convict over there.]

Yeah. ... It's alright, I've handled these things before. [Not when magic is involved, but kicking down doors is sort of his forte.]

[That's something she's starting to pick up on. Why is he being so reluctant? No, it's not like she's used to getting straight answers out of him by any stretch of the imagination, but for some reason...--

She's quiet for a moment or two.]

It might help to have someone try it from the outside.

[He's not really a big fan of needing to be rescued on top of that. This could be slightly embarrassing.]

I'll let you know when to grab the chainsaw.

[(And how would that be any different from any other time, honestly?)

But, hey. That gets a smile out of her over here.]

Sounds more serious than I thought.

[Yes... because he was kidding....... And hey. It's good to hear her feeling better, so she manages to improve his mood regardless.]

It's a magic castle, it's always serious.

[Come on, Spike. You have to admit there's some humor to be found in this. (Or maybe her sense of humor has become a little morbid over the years. Same difference.)]

In that case, I'll have it ready.

[He gets the humor, but he'd rather be getting it once he's out of Faye's room.]

I'd appreciate it.

[ Waking uuuup you jerks aren't quiet. Well, Spike isn't quiet. ]

It can't be opened from the outside, either. You don't think I tried that before?

[... Hopefully Julia didn't overhear him. Spike is giving Joshua a look in case he doesn't sense that this is a bad time, and when he replies it's in a muted tone.]

That was a different room.

[hey boys, the doorknob is rattling!

Someone else was apparently out late at the bar as well, and can't figure out why her door won't open.]

[it pauses while she leans back to look at the name and make sure she has the right room]
