[Jon Snow went to the kitchen with Catelyn Stark to get something to eat. No, not because they are magically friends, or because she finally accepted him as a son. They went together because they had to. As in, their hands are cuffed together.

At least the castle had had the decency to make the chain long, but they were still forced to be in the same room. After being kidnapped by a castle, attacked by a demon, and smooched by another demon, Jon truly hated the castle. And this just made him loathe it all the more.
He is in the kitchen, rummaging around in that frozen box. He turns from it quickly with food in hand, pulling the chain.

Catelyn makes a little irritated sound as her hand is yanked toward him. Really, this was unacceptable. Winterfell was not large enough for her to comfortably bear his presence. And now it was so much worse- his face now a constant reminder of the husband she had lost as well as old wounds.]

Mind yourself.

[Her tone had started out as merely icy, but the longer they were stuck together, the more open hostility crept into it.

Jon looks up in surprise. He glances down at the chain, realizing his mistake. He mumbles the following response.]

Forgive me, Lady Stark.

[He walks over to the table, setting down a plate of food on the table and two empty plates beside it. He takes a plate, glancing up at her to see if she’ll join him.

Catelyn hesitates. She still doesn’t want to be friendly with him. But a few simple gestures on her part will make this more bearable for the both of them. She sits at the place he has set, looking for all the world like she’s swallowed something distasteful.]

[ooc: Loss start! Catelyn Stark is green and Jon Snow is blue. Open! Please bother them and listen to awkward silences!]

[Bucky walks into the kitchen, just to get a snack, and he walks in on this little awkward scene. He raises an eyebrow as he looks between them and the chain.]

...A loss, I'm guessing?

[Jon stands up abruptly, upsetting his chair and bumping into the table. He looks at Bucky as if he's begging him to go, yet willing him to stay at the same time.]

A...loss. Yes, I believe that is what you call it.

[The chain jerks a bit at that and Cat just shoots Jon a look before glancing back down at her food.]

We would hardly be here willingly.

I also take it you two hate each other. [Bucky looks amused. The Castle does like to be pretty sadistic.]

[LMAO. Bucky, why you gotta make things more awkward than they are, bro??

Jon opens and closes his mouth a few times, looking astonished. Then he locks his jaw, looking determined.]

That's my father's wife!

[Welp. This is awkward. She's just going to be staring at the table for a few seconds before standing and offering her hand.]

Lady Catelyn Stark. It's a pleasure.

[There's nothing tense about this at all, nope.]

[Bucky loves awkward when it doesn't involve him, really. And a lady, again? What is with him attracting important people? He shakes her hand, hoping he's about to to do this right. he's just ignoring Jon at this point in time.] James Buchanan Barnes. Most people just call me Bucky. Pleased to meet you, Lady Stark. [...Waitaminute.]

No relation to Howard Stark?

[Jon raises his eyebrows.]

No. Lady Catelyn Stark, wife of Eddard Stark. [He glances nervously at Catelyn before going on.] And I'm Jon Snow.

[He holds out his hand.]

[Widow of Eddard Stark, she mentally corrects. No need to say it, though. He's doing that fine. Her handshake is short but firm- she may be a noble, but she was a Northern one, practical and hardened.]

I have spent enough time looking over the family line with my children that I may assure you there is no Howard Stark among our relations. [A pleasant smile. Nevermind that Jon doesn't get counted in the family line, so bringing it up is a slight jab.]

[Bucky can respect that. He's never been one for long handshakes anyway.] Sorry, then. You might even be from a different world, anyway.

[He shakes Jon's hand.] And, really, if you want her to at least respect you a bit? Stop trying to protect her so much. I'm pretty sure she can handle herself. You're just making yourself look like an idiot. [He really, really is.]

[Wow. Bold much? Jon takes his hand away from Bucky's like it's a hot potato and bristles. He steps into Bucky's face, his own expression hostile.]

It's called treating a lady with respect. But then, I suppose you don't know the meaning of the word.

[ Duke's not too comfortable in the kitchen - He's had some awkward encounters in the place.

But he doesn't like wishing for all of his food.

Duke pauses near the door. Two somewhat familiar sounds of movement - well, he's fairly certain he's heard both of them before - lacking a four legged one if he was right - but a somewhat unusual sound as well - ... chain? ]

[Except, again, that movement forward jerks Cat a little. Really, she's had enough of outright aggression and this is promising to go that way very quickly. She gives a long suffering sigh.]

Jon. [A pause] It's not necessary.

[Men. What can you do?]

[Bucky's not going to fight him. It's not worth it. He shrugs, just walking away to look in the fridge.]

Hey, maybe I don't know anything. I'm just a poor orphan. I've never met an actual Lady before. [He pokes his head over the door to the fridge.]

Sorry if I'm wrong about what I said, Lady Stark.

[Duke would be correct. Ghost is intelligent and got the hell out of Dodge. Because this is the most awkward encounter of encounters.

Jon is nibbling at a piece of bread when he spots him.]

Duke?!

[And at Jon's exclamation, Cat looks over too. But her first words are directed at Jon.]

You know him as well?

[Jon just sits back down. And glares at Bucky.]

It's quite alright. [Bloodshed avoided in the kitchen. This is good. Except now she's got an even more sullen Jon on her hands. Fun.]

[ A useless blink at both voices. ]

Was correct then. [ He's going to make his way for that... fridge thing. They don't sound like they're in the direction he wants to go, so all is good. ]

Uh...yes. Yes, we met on my first day here.

[And now he'll go back to eating his bread, having contributed to the conversation oh so much.]

[Damn it, Jon. You may be a bastard, but you were raised like a Stark (your father saw to that). Act like one.]

So did we. [And then to Duke:] I hope you have been well.

[ Lucrezia wanders into the kitchen for soda (second best invention after fridges) only to halt at the sight of chains crossing the room. How romantic, and no, age is irrelevant in love. She chuckles and traces the length with her fingers, glancing at the pair. ]

What an idea, to keep each other in chains.

Keep...each other...?

[Jon glances at Lucrezia's face and inhales a bit of bread in horror. Don't mind him; he'll just be choking.]

Though, I do have a question. [He closes the fridge door behind him.] Why do you two not like each other so much the Castle decided to chain you together so you'd try to get along?

[Cat is oblivious for one brief, peaceful moment until she sees Jon's reaction. Then it hits her.]

Gods be good! No. He is my husband's son and this was not done by choice.
