Hmmm, the week we've just had, in the UK it is considered the most depressing week of the year. Although I seemed to have been too distracted to really notice it. However, it does seem a peculiarly British to note down when that is.

Strangely enough moreso here than perhaps back home in India. It's the Post Christmas blues added to the after effects of over indulging and over spending and the length of time until the next holiday that and the next pay day that culminate in the week being rather morose for most.

Oh, I know what the day is, but given that some of what you have mentioned doesn't apply here? Or at least not as it would at home.

Overspending and over indulging at Christmas. Most people are paid at the end of the month and there's a little while until that. There's also a little while until the next holiday and the combination of all of these can leave people feeling rather down. Well and the weather of course.

That would be why I specified the UK in particular. It was just a note of reference as I recognised the date. However, the castle does have a tendency towards Western celebrations. Not always, we did have Divali but as a whole it has had Christmas as far as I can remember."

Celebrations are a little different from alleged dates - in past years there has been disagreement over when the day supposedly is.

To be quite honest, I can't say I'd paid much attention to the holiday season...At least, I've never had much of a reason to. If one were to ask my opinion about the most morose time of the year, I'd be apt to say, 'tax season.' That, or Valentine's Day, perhaps.

Well I can't say I gave much thought to the particulars. I meant more the bank holiday date rather than any true theological debate.

Well it depends where you are I imagine. In the uk you're still getting dark at four, half four. It's not really a day full of sunshine.
