Well, life's certainly been eventful lately, hasn't it? [Five's voice drifts cheerfully over the journal as various rustling and rummaging sounds go on in the background] All sorts of strange and interesting occurrences ... but all for us, the residents themselves. Has anyone else noticed that? Very few actual cosmetic changes to the castle itself, other than that extra tower that appeared for a few days.

Might not be a bad idea to get a nice, close look at the old place while it's feeling complacent and uninteresting, that's what I say. I'll be going out for the evening ... don't worry too terribly, I've the journal on me.

[and with that, he'll toss on his coat, the pockets now sufficiently full of Useful Things, and strike out on the VERY LONG journey down the hall and up one flight of stairs to the Insolitus...]

[ Arya is heading down the stairs when she runs into Five. Literally. ]

Oh! [he laughs as he catches her and steps back, grinning] It's quite alright. I was in a bit of a hurry myself. ... Always exciting, the prospect of a little adventure.

[persequor]

[ She blinks at him. ]

Adventure?

[bootsweremadeforcasting]

[Jade catches the tail end of the dictation, then raises a brow. Oh, how interesting.]

'Mind one more coming along, then?'

[He's already on the move and by the time he reaches Insolitus, he can see Five coming down the corridor.]

Of course. Nothing like it. [his smile doesn't fade one bit] Ever been to the Insolitus?

[demontobeloved]

[Someone's just going to walk into this scene, a book in his hand.]

Someone say adventure?

[persequor]

[ She starts shaking her head in response to Five's question when Cole's approach stops her. ]

Not in the least, Jade! I'll see you shortly.

[and sure enough, he'll spot him on the approach and wave]

[The mute man offered an amicable wave and expression back, journal tucked under his arm as he waited.]

'I admit to curiosity about this place.'

[cricketycricket]

Cole! Nice to see you about! Been a while, hasn't it? [we just won't mention the Patrol by name, that's an excellent idea, right? he gestures to Arya] I was just telling my new friend here about the Insolitus. She's never been -- and I just realized, I haven't introduced myself. Terribly sorry!

[and with that, out goes the hand.] I'm the Doctor, and this is my friend Cole Turner. It's a pleasure.

[cricketycricket]

You'd have to be absolutely unimaginative not to. [he smiled, watching Jade's words shimmer away like the afterimages of sparklers.] That's a very neat and lovely trick you have, there.

[persequor]

[ Arya's eyes flick from the hand to the Doctor's face and back to the hand. ]

...Did you want something?

[bootsweremadeforcasting]

[Jade looked to he pen a moment, then shrugged.]

'It's easier on the wrist and far more eye-catching when I need attention.'

[Jade proceeds to open the door with his free hand.]

Well, I've never been either. It'll be fun, I guess. And, Doctor, you probably knew me the last time I was here.

[He looks to Arya, smiling lightly.]

[cricketycricket]

[shall we join the others up above?]

[cricketycricket]

Did I? Ah. ... Terribly sorry. Bit of a misunderstanding, I suppose, but still, you're more than welcome to join me. We can reacquaint one another on the way.

[he turns his attention and his smile back to Arya] Oh, no, not if you're not accustomed. It's a handshake - common custom of greeting for several residents here. The only thing I'd care for's your name, if you're comfortable giving it.

[Enter one mute man who looks entirely amused. His words are written in the air with golden lettering.]

'I don't believe we've met'

[demontobeloved]

No, I don't believe we have, either.

[He offers his hand, smiling.]

Cole Turner. A pleasure.

[bootsweremadeforcasting]

[Jade takes the hand easily and gives it a firm shake.]

'Jade Curtiss.'

[persequor]

[ She's already been exposed to enough here that the letters don't get more than a curious glance. She speaks to Five more than the other two when she offers her name. ]

I'm Arya.

[demontobeloved]

Well, this is quite the party.

[Cole grins slightly.]

And I'm sure we will, Doctor. I don't think I'm that different from the last time you knew me.

[cricketycricket]

[he grins back at Cole] I'm glad to hear it, you seemed a very level-headed sort.

Very nice to meet you, Arya. Would you care to join us on our little exploration? [the Doctor: leading impressionable, spunky kids into danger since 1963]

[persequor]

Where are you going? [ The name of the place means nothing to her. The idea of discovering somewhere new, though, is intriguing. ]

[bootsweremadeforcasting]

'So it would seem.'

[He briskly adjusted his glasses, smirking.]

'Hopefully it proves to be just as interesting'
