I'm sure you've figured - [interrupting Hannah is interrupting] Dad! Mom says I can finger paint!!

[She takes a breath and nods, moving to let the dog bark around the two of them.] Sure you figured it out, but our yearly visitation rights are being demonstrated. Hannah's here. She's fine. We did breakfast since she woke up, and I quote 'Ravenous' and wanting waffles. If you wanted to stay here, while she's here. I can sleep in her room with her and you can take the master.

Just swing by whenever.

If anyone wants to bring the kids around to the Continuing Hope Gallery I've got finger painting set up. [Jo moved all the 'real' art into storage this morning and she's pulled out empty canvases and all of the non-toxic paint that was in the supply room]

They can make their art and hang it up on the gallery while they're here. [Jo doesn't sound thrilled that the kids are back, but she's managing much better than the year before and she knows how important keepsakes are when the kids are gone.]

[the voice that comes back is half-asleep. Sleeping on the floor of a home ec classroom for the past two days isn't exactly conducive to getting a lot of it, but when he hears Hannah's voice, it jerks him back into consciousness.

He's not going to mention that he was looking forward to her coming back. But he was. Just a little.]

Can I bring the dogs?

[because if he's going to be camping out in town for a week, and he works in town, he might as well.]

[aaaaaaaaand someone has commandeered Max's journal.]

I want to finger paint!

[and then she realizes she's talking to the wrong person, and her voice drops to a whisper]

Mom, can I finger paint with Aunt Jo?

[and then comes Max's voice from a distances]

Yeah, it's fine. I've only got the two now and I'm sure they'll manage with two more around.

[the dogs are barking now. So is Hannah.] Hannah, don't rile them up. They'll tear down the stairs and we can't have them running all over.

[nods. Sounds good. he needs to ... shower, and pack some things, and then he can head over]

I'll be there in a bit. Any waffles left?

[huntersdaughter]

Sadly, no waffles remain. She fed two of them to the dogs. [Jo is not happy. She's not looking forward to them puking them up later on.]

'They wanted them.'

I really don't think they did.

[chuckles]

I don't think they did either, sweetheart.

[huntersdaughter]

[Jo laughs.]

If Max says it's okay you can come over.

[huntersdaughter]

She's already off and running with the dogs.

I'll see you when you get here?

Yeah, I'll see you in a bit.

[and about an hour later, Sam's knocking on the door to the gallery as he pushes it open -- showered, fed with a bag slung over his shoulder and two dogs by his side]

Jo?

[huntersdaughter]

[Front door... so the dogs tear toward it sliding on the hardwood floors, nails skittering against the floor.]

CHASE! [Dammit. Back door, Sam. Back door is more her house.]

Get over here. [Hannah is following behind, weaving through the two dogs and her mom and glomps onto his leg.]

'Hi.'

[Sorry. He might have been a little over excited. He glances down at her and his hand rests on top of her head]

Hey.

[huntersdaughter]

[Well, Hannah is not letting go of his leg for now. Chase has decided to hide in a corner of the gallery, behind some of the empty frames. Jo is trying to get him out of there.]

You know your way around, Sam.

[imnot_likeyou]

[sighs, before reaching down to pry Hannah off his leg so that he can actually walk. He scoops her up and Alice and Cooper follow him to the stairs.

To Hannah:]

So. Mom's letting you finger paint, huh?

[whatialways_do]

Mom?

[a sigh]

Yeah, sure. It'll get you out of my hair for a little while.

[huntersdaughter]

'Yep. She says I can have art on the walls instead of making art on the walls.'

[huntersdaughter]

If I draw you a map can you follow it? [She knows the kids weren't in the castle when she had the gallery, so it'd be a new space for her to find.]

Wait -- Max are you gonna come with her? [LOL Jo just treats her like an adult. Ooops.]

[laughs herself]

Yeah, but draw her a map anyway. See if she can figure it out.

Sounds good. You know, I made my own pants this weekend.

[huntersdaughter]

Alright. [Insert a map.]

You got it?

[huntersdaughter]

[Hannah looks at him and looks at his pants.]

'These pants?'

[Part of slowly coming back into the world of the living, is being confronted by... the usual. He forgot what time of year it is.]

Let me clean up from breakfast first.

[there's a soft huff as Max watches her go before she turns back to the journal]

[a beat] Don't think that me being a mom suddenly means I'm letting you off the hook. [Yep. She can 'mom' you too.]
