[Have a black cat stalking the halls of the castle, yowling unhappily as it explores.  Things look a lot different from floor level like this, and Rinzler isn't entirely pleased about this.

There's a bright red color on his neck with a little jingly tag with his name on it, not that he realizes it yet.  He's mostly trying to avoid attention with how vulnerable this body feels.  And he's scared.  He knows Clu is going to be unhappy with him.  Then he finally notices his journal, opening it and starting to claw the pages, meowing.]

[Okay, Alan's heard his fair share of strange things over the journal. Kitty-cat noises into the journal weren't, especially accompanied by torn pages.

Hadn't one of James' friends been turned into a cat? Maybe it was her.]

[Trying to claw letters into the page. "ALAN"]

[Alan has to squint and tilt his head a little, but that does look a little like his name, he thinks. Maybe it's not James' friend after all - they'd never met.]

Who is this? Where-- [Okay, asking questions to a cat that couldn't answer aside from what only might have been his name? Not very productive.]

I'm in my room. Can you get there?

Meow. [And there's a sort of purring noise. He knows where that room is, and he thinks he can make the trip.]

[Alan nods to himself - purring is good, hissing is bad.]

I'll keep an eye out.

[And with that he steps outside and wishes up a chair, settling down to wait.]

[It takes some time, but eventually a black cat trots up. The bright red collar is obvious. He knows Clu won't approve, but he needs someone who understands animals.] Meow.

[... cat? Flynn blinks, looking down the hallway at the poor thing]

[For once, Chibi seems exhausted and is sleeping like a log, he even snores a little--huh, anyway, it gives her time to check the journal, which she hasn't in a while.

Hey there, kitten, are you lost? [There is no ink this time, but more like dog noises because animals are supposed to understand her, right?]

[The user? Well, as least Rinzler isn't that recognizable like this. Though he doesn't know about the collar and tags.] Meow.

[He meows. "Woke up like this."]

Ah, the castle is acting up again. Were you human before?

[Dairine is walking down the hall from the library, a few books on illusions under her arm, when she spots the cat. Hmm… Could be a new arrival, resident on loss, or someone’s pet. Either way, might as well be sociable. Never know if it's one of those cats who work at the Worldgating Center.

So the young wizard addresses him in the Speech, so the two will be able to understand each other.]

Greetings. Is something troubling you?

[Looking up at the stranger, meowing an answer. "Loss."]

[Wait...black cat. Red collar. Knew his name.

...No.

He crouches down, reaching for the collar to try and get a look at that nametag.]

[Rinzler looks up at Alan, letting out an unhappy yowl. He doesn't realize he's tagged or what the collar is besides an annoying band, otherwise he wouldn't bee so calm about what Alan is doing.]

[The sudden yowl makes him flinch (he doesn't want to get clawed!), but he still gets his fingers on the tag, trying not to put any pressure on the cat's neck.]

Relax! I'm just checking the tag on your coll--

Rinzler?

[Rinzler goes quiet at that at first. He's not happy, but the change is enough that he doesn't know how to handle it. And Clu would get angry. More than he already is.] Meow.

[Alan knows Rinzler can't be happy about this - both because of being a cat and because of their previous conversations.]

I know - you're not supposed to be here, you can't tell me anything.

But I don't understand cats, and I doubt CLU will be happy about this turn of events. Messes up his plan, whatever it is.

Can we leave it at this? I wasn't Alan then. You're not Rinzler now.

[Rinzler tilts his head at that, letting out a meow. Hey, he is a cat and barely knows what to do. But he's relatively calm, and not trying to bolt.

And everything from before... He lets out a rumbling purr.]
