The Forty-First Day

[Shiki actually managed to be okay with her kids being gone, now. She liked the fact that she got to drop them off in that door, and she had that whole sense of closure about the matter. She was fine with that. Sad, but fine.

But she was still followed by that hint of sadness when she woke up the next morning, and she found a picture on her bedside table. She frowned - she didn't remember it, after all.

Looking at it, she saw that it was a picture of the original Ouran Host Club. She just looked at it for a little bit, remembering Tamaki and how sweet he is... and Kasanoda, and what a good friend he could be... hey, she even remembered that guy with the glasses! Kyouya, right? She didn't know him super well since he wasn't here for very long... but he was so cool...

...It took her a minute to realize why she had to have it. And then she was off, running in her pajamas, to Hunny's room. She knew he wasn't there when the nameplate was gone from the door, but she still had to check inside. She couldn't believe it. Hunny was gone.

So she went to Haruhi's room. She figured that she had to know... and Shiki knows what it's like, to be the last person from home left in Paradisa.

And then Haruhi's room was empty too.

Shiki stared at the empty nameplate and room, unable to believe that everyone who goes to Ouran Academy was gone from Paradisa. She hadn't known them at home, but they came to be as close to her as friends from home would be, and that they were all gone now... that hurt.

Shiki figured that... she didn't want to talk to anyone, but she needed a friend who would be okay with her just chilling in their room in silence. She didn't want to talk, but she also didn't want to be alone. So she went to Kanji's room. After all, he's better than anyone else that she knows (who's still here) for knowing when silence is particularly golden.

When his nameplate was gone and room empty as well, though, she just stopped looking for people. She stood there in what used to be his doorway for a solid few minutes, just not knowing what to do with herself.

Finally, she forced herself to move. She knew that she couldn't completely break down. She'd had a lot of friends leave in the past few months, after all, and... she wasn't quite getting used to it, but she wasn't unused to it either. She made herself go to her room, brush her teeth, wash her face, and get properly dressed.

And then she went down to the lobby, and started wishing up a whole ton of stuff, chips, drinks, balloons, decorations -  more than anyone could possibly ever need, before opening up her journal.]

Hey, so, everyone!

You know what sucks? Moping over people you've lost. You know what's awesome? Having a party!

So I'm having one! In the lobby. Right now. There's food and drinks and decorations and everything, and everyone's invited! It's seriously going to be super awesome, I promise - you really don't want to miss this one!

[If Shiki's happiness seems a touch forced, then... well. Meanwhile, she is sick of being sad, and she is having a party, and she will be damned if it is not the best damn party she could possibly throw right now. Right now. In the lobby. Right now.]
