[Clint's voice comes through the journal, professional, straight to the point. Seems this is the week for seriousness.]

I know some of you have been locked in an alternate dimension, and it's not really a good time, but this is important. You guys have been picked because I trust you more than any of the others in this place...

I'm Agent Clint Barton of SHIELD, The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. We monitor threats to Earth. Currently, one of these threats is in the castle. He's called Loki.

As far as I'm concerned, you're all now base cleared, at least, so I'll tell you about this. Back in my world, this Loki is an alien from another plane who came to Earth to try and take it over. He used a device called the Tesseract to open a portal to another galaxy and bring an alien force called the Chitauri to help him. He is not a force to be taken lightly. I'm not sure what he lost when coming to the castle, but in my world, he could go as far as controlling people's minds.

In response, SHIELD created a response team, which I'm a member of. It's called the Avengers Initiative. I'd like you lot to be part of it in Paradisa. You don't have to fight, but our job would be to identify potential threats to residents of the castle. All most of you will have to do is filter. Other's would pick up the slack.

Feel free to ask any questions. But, remember; you only hold base SHIELD clearance, so don't be offended if I can't answer. [There's only one exception to this rule.]

[Danny wasn't entirely sure how he should be feeling about this. Wariness? He'd seen what could happen when the government got involved in things like this. But he liked Clint. And trusted him much more than he ever had the idiots in white.

And even apart from that, if there was a threat like that in the castle, he couldn't ignore this just because he was nervous about working with an organization. Someone who could control minds.... He'd been through that before. And never wanted to go through it again. No one should ever have to deal with losing their minds to something like that.

Maybe the smart thing would have been to walk away. Jazz would have told him to stay far away from this. To keep under the radar, just like at home.

But Danny had never claimed to be smart. If there was a chance he could keep the people of the castle from getting hurt? He wanted in.]

SHIELD, huh. Nice acronym. Can I count on no dissections being planned?

What's this Loki guy after?

No dissections. We don't work like that.

And here? No idea. But it can't be good. This guy is not someone you just let walk around.

No prob. This is kind of what I do. I mean, usually its more with the ghosts and less with the aliens. But whatever.

Did something happen?

Let's start with the names on your filter. I know for a fact four of them are too young to be dragged into a fight with a space alien.

[Serious enough that Katniss is paying attention. She remembered that discussion she'd had over the journal on one of the many nights she couldn't sleep. How the guy controlled minds. The thought is reminiscent, and disturbs her to the core.

But people have tried to drag her into things before. Usually, they didn't give her a choice. (At least Clint has that going in his favor.) So, forgive her for not being quite so sold on the idea of getting involved in a fight that isn't explicitly hers just yet. However, she does have a question.]

Why me?

Who said anything about fighting? I don't want to drag people into battle, captain. I'm a spy, not a soldier.

These guys have shown the most willingness to help protect the people here. That's why I chose them.

I could use another pair of eyes.

Yeah, well, you'll not be doing anything dangerous. I don't want to be responsible for you getting hurt when carrying out orders.

What would I be looking for?

Potential threats, hazards, people we should know about.

I would never order you to engage them or put your life at risk.

Alright I can get wanting some trusted eyes. I know Dairine and Peeta. They won't let anybody down.

Don't you think we should be telling the rest of the folks around here about him though? If this guy is that big a threat everyone should get a heads up. That way those four won't feel the need to offer that kind of help if it's needed.

I'm waiting to see what he does. I don't want to draw uneccessary attention to it. I don't know when he's from, and he's saying he doesn't know me. It's very likely going to be a ploy, but I don't want to cause panic

What if he tries to destroy the castle the same way he's trying to destroy New York? Don't you think people are going to be upset they never knew someone like that was here ahead of time? Even if he's from the past... you should let people draw their own conclusions. This isn't just about us.

I think I can guarantee that anything I do here will not be any more dangerous than what did at home.

Still, it's the principle. I'm not going to order you to act on anything that might be dangerous. You're just a kid, there's laws against that.

Tell you what, cap. How about you do it? You've been around here longer, people know you. Trust you. I've barely been here a month.

I already thought of that. The problem is I don't think that's going to help. Even if I'm trustworthy I haven't seen any of this. I'm just going by what you said.

Well, I don't see how we're going to get around this. I'm not exactly a golden boy around here.

Not really used to waiting for orders on that kind of thing.
