001 Where am I? - Written

[Carol looks at the bound book in her hands, examining it once again. She's still no a hundred percent sure how it works but she's not opposed to giving it a go. Firstly though she runs her fingers over the front cover. There's her name engraved in gold: 'Carol Peletier'. Then she opens the journal, flicking through it. She's noticed that there's writing in the book but the first page is completely blank.

She lifts the pen that was sitting there beside her and she starts to right. Although she's not exactly sure what's going to happen.]

I arrived here a few days ago and I'm still not exactly sure where I am. I haven't seem anyone around and definitely not any of my friends...

At least there's no Walker's around. At least not that I've seen anyway. And I'm not sure how this thing works but if anyone's reading this...Hello?

Can someone be kind enough to tell me what's going on?

[There's a bit of a pause before she answers...this is all so strange to her still. She shakes her head although she knows the other person's not going to see her.]

No...I'm afraid I don't know anyone by that name.

I was talkin' about zombies, the undead...there isn't any around is there?

Z-Zombies?! Why would there be zombies here?!

[The exclamation and the questioning tells her that no, there can't be any here. Which is good news.]

I don't know it's just...where I came from there were zombies everywhere. I haven't seen any around though and if you haven't seen any before then there can't be.

[ That really does freak her out, because it's been ages since she's seen zombies here. ]

N-No-- no zombies here! The dead come back, but they come back to life fine!

Yes. Yes I'm new...my name's Carol. [She's still not sure what the hell she's doing but for now she's just going to run with it.]

Walkers...the undead...zombies?

[Well she's glad she gets an answer because really, she has no clue what's going on here. She does hear the campfire...just about.]

I've been trying to figure it out for myself. Hasn't gone too well.

[She pauses a little as she takes in the voice...but then she just shakes her head and continues to talk]

Honestly, there's not much I won't believe anymore.

[There's a pause on her end as she considers how to answer that statement]

...But I'd still like to know about it.

... [ Here's an awkward little chuckle. ] Good thing I didn't suggest getting one from the clinic. [ Of course he means that walking frame used by some patients. Ha ha ha. Moving on now. ] I'm a doctor. My name's Chase. You'll be happy to know that there aren't any zombies here. [ Just vampires, talking dragons, animals, aliens... ]

[And there's an audible sigh of relief from her end at that piece of information and she might even be smiling a little but...not that he can see that but still, it's there.]

It's nice to meet you, Chase...well hear your voice at least. And it's good to hear that there's no zombies around. You don't know how long I've had to look over my shoulder, looking out for them.

[ Zombies. Well, that's new. ]

Oh! [ A beat. ] Um... the castle has some sort of powerful magic, so when a resident dies they come back after a couple of weeks.

Good, I'm glad to hear it's safe. [There's an audible sigh of relief hearing that she would be safe here. At least there's that. And yeah, it's best not to bombard her with too much information yet.]

Really? What...Wh...I mean how does that work? How is it possible?

[Unfortunately it's something she's gotten quite used to. Which of course should never be the reality. She raises a brow at his question]

...Yeah, of course. Where else would I be from?

[She looks around her and nods. She's actually just near the grounds of the castle but hasn't had the courage to check it out yet.]

Yeah, there's a castle. I'm standing close to it actually.

It's magic... I think.

Alright. As I understand it, this place - this castle - is sort of alive. It brings people here from all kinds of different worlds. I don't really know how. They say it's magic and I guess I can buy that, because I'm not sure how else it's possible.

[ Buffy feels bad. Just by reading it all she can tell she sounds confused. ]

It's... kind of weird. I mean, I've been through a lot of crazy things but this? I don't think anyone ever knows what to expect or even what to do when they get here. [ Blabbing, Buffy. Don't freak her out even more. ] Right. You what to know what's going on.

What kind of world did you come from? Was there magic or anything... paranormal involved?
