[Dictated][One - Right Through The Eye]

[She's put up her bed as a makeshift shield in front the door, after she woke up and found herself not in her cell, but in the castle. She didn't think until later about the fact that her weapons were with her - her custom bow and her arrows - but not her pin. All she could think was that she was in a new place but she wasn't dead. Yet.]

[And there was the journal. She opened up and eyed it as words - voices! - scrawled across the page. She looked warily towards the door, before she began to speak and writing appeared - quick, almost jerky, letters flying across the pages in messy and sharp handwriting to show her agitation.]

Where am I? What is going on? Why is the writing appearing on the pages? Where is my pin? Why do I have my weapons? Am I in the Capital? Am I back in District 13? I don't understand this I don't understand -

[There is a blot of ink on the page, as she takes a deep, shaky breath. She speaks slowly, the letters start in a much more measured tone.]

My name is Katniss Everdeen. I am seventeen years old. I had a sister named Primrose. I was the Champion of the 74th Hunger Games. I am the Mockingjay. I killed President Coin.

[She says it again. And again. And again. Until she's interrupted.]

This books works as a communication device. It transcribes everything you say to it. Your pin might be your 'loss' - that is... Everyone who is kidnapped and brought here loses something, whether it be an item, memory, ability, or something else. If you had your weapons with you before you were brought here then they stayed with you.

This is a place called Paradisa, and it isn't the Capital or District 13. It's um. Another world. As far as anyone here knows!

Prim was here for a while, and she was safe. Sometimes people are sent home to the moment they were taken from, and they don't remember this place... [ doesn't know if mentioning she was here and sent home is a good idea or not, and so doesn't... ] Nobody knows how or why though.

.... [now, there was a voice he hadn't thought he'd hear again.... at least not this soon. he looks over at the journal, resting on Ino's counter as he's frying bacon. grease might start spotting the pages]

.....Katniss.... Katniss, it... [this might be such a bad idea, but she's still his best friend, and there's so much he hadn't told her...he at least owes her an explanation from a familiar voice] It's Gale.

I ... [it's too much - too much and she mutters her mantra under her breath a few more times just to calm herself before she speaks again.]

So this isn't my world. This isn't Panem?

[She presses her lips together again.] And Prim was here, but she is gone.

[She closes her eyes tight, pressing her face against the page as she whispers.] ... too late again...

[She jerks back as there are splatters of - is that bacon? God, she's so hungry. She hadn't eaten before the public execution and then ... and then the arrow through Coin's head and Snow's mouth filling with blood as he laughed himself to death --]

[Focus. FOCUS. That's - ]

Gale? ... [His eyes when they knew she couldn't forgive him - first time they met - that kiss - watching him sleep as he healed the wounds from his back - his faith in her - his anger - firefirefire ...] Gale.

[Deep breath.] We're not ... what's going on? Why am I here?

Ah, I've never heard of Panem before, but I'm sure this place isn't it!

[ a pause. ]

You... Um, you were here with her for a long time before. You wouldn't remember it though since you went home. She liked being here with you. Shortly after you went home, she went home too. The few days she was without you she was surrounded by friends.

[he takes the pan off the stove and sets it aside. sorry, Ino, breakfast will have to wait. drying his hands on a towel, he's already tearing a page from the journal to write his ninja girlfriend a note as he dictates]

It's a long story. I need to tell you in person.... Have you looked outside your door yet?

[BEST DAY EVER OMG. Some things she says go straight over Rue's head but, hey, there'll be plenty of time to ask who the heck President Coin is. First thing's first - there's a VERY excited voice coming through the journal]

[Dairine has suspected that Katniss wouldn't be gone for long. This place liked Panem's woes too much to pass up on bringing her back. Still, opening the journal to hear that voice again was a shock. Quickly Dairine grabs a pen and writes down the filter. Force of habit, you might say.]

Katniss!

[Oh dear, she's panicking. She must not remember the castle anymore. So Dairine replies in a steady voice.]

Katniss, calm down. You're not in the Capital anymore. You're in Paradisa, far away from Panem and its games.

[cheerfully; she knows you'll recognize her voice and what it will do to you]

Oh, good, you're back. Things were getting boring.

[Peeta's hand stills. She was gone. He was still dealing with the pain, and yet, here she was.

Some of it doesn't make sense. Had a sister? Who was President Coin?

He drops the brush and grabs the journal, smearing paint on the edges of the journal. It comes out breathily, like a sigh, but with pain and confusion instead of relief.]

I see the castles revolving door policy is alive and well.

[She's still trying to wrap her head around that. She sighed softly, rubbing her hand across her face.]

She was safe, here, with me? Did she have enough to eat? What about ... what about our mother? Or her pets? [She can't ask. She can't ask about the others. It would hurt too much to know they weren't around.]

[She eyes the door pensively, before she flicked her eyes back to the journal. She set her shoulders.]

Not yet. I wasn't sure ... I don't feel safe here. I've barricaded myself in.

[the_effect_she_has]

[Her heart literally stops beating - or at least it feels like it - as she grips the journal with both hands.]

Rue?! Is that - is that really you?

She was with you, yeah! I'm sure she had enough to eat, and... She didn't mention your mother being here, or any pets. Just her sister, Katniss.

She was very careful to stay safe! She even used a fake name with strangers. I never had the chance to meet her in person, but I would have liked to. She was one of the only people here I would call a friend.

[Katniss frowned at the writing that came to her - lips pressing together - biting down on her mouth. After a moment, she spoke.]

All right ... I don't think there is any reason to disbelieve you.

[She takes a slow breath in, and a slow breath out. Control, she has control.]

What is Paradisa, and who are you? [Another pause.] Please?

[You would not be wrong - Katniss stiffens and her hand reaches for her bow once more.]

I would hate for you to be bored.

[Her jaw tightens considerably, eying the door again. Maybe this wasn't the Games, or maybe it was just a new one.]

[Her tone is both terrified and hopeful at the same time. She hadn't - she didn't know if he - ]

[A quiet little smile flicked over Katniss's voice, as she looked down at the page, then up again.] That's my girl ...

[A brief frown.] You never met her face to face?

I never got the chance to. The timing was never good, and then after you were gone... It was better for her to spend time with people she knew better, and who knew you and could comfort her with memories, ne?

If she comes back again though I definitely want to meet her properly!

You're safe, it's okay. It's not the Capitol... Look outside and tell me what number's on the door, alright? Your name will be on it, too. [he stops himself just short of saying "don't panic", because, well, she's already there. as for himself, he sets the quick note on the counter - 'Katniss is back, gone to the castle. Don't worry' - and is headed out the door and on his way]

[She nods her head slowly, pressing her forehead against the journal briefly before she draws herself up again. Prim is safe. She is here and she has to focus on her survival.]

I am sure she'll like it.

Katniss - Guessing that's a "this person" filter, as Dair hasn't introduced herself yet

[That... actually is rather surprising, for Katniss. She must come from a slightly better time. Well, relatively speaking.]

Paradisa is... well, it's another world. But it's also the name of this building -- Cair Paradisa. "Castle Paradise." Unoriginal, I know, but what can you do.

As for me, I am Dairine Callahan.

[She bites her bottom lip, before pushing herself to her feet. She hops over the bedframe, and heads towards the door cautiously. She holds the bow, touching the quiver at her back briefly.]

[She leaned in to open the door, and take in the number. Then she returns to the journal.] 517.

[Another moment, and she carries the journal with her, back to the door.] Will you tell me what's going on?
