(expedition post - open!)

This river's fascinating ... I haven't seen the like of it in centuries, and it was certainly quite far from here, that's for certain.

[Five's idly sketching the view from the river into his journal: one of the aqueducts sticking out from the side of a nearby mountain.]

I don't suppose anyone has a set of binoculars on them? I'd like to get a closer look at some of the statuary off over there, and I seem to have mislaid mine in the TARDIS before we left.

[the contents of his coat pockets are strewn about the bottom of the boat near his feet, from his binocular-hunting attempts: a flask, some marbles, bits of string, a tiny kettle the size of a fist, a box of matches, dice, tiny playing cards, hard candies wrapped in cellophane and stamped in odd writing, a tamagotchi (not Delta!) ... really, if you name it, it's probably on the floor. come marvel at the pockets of holding or just strike up some conversation!]

[One of the marbles rolls across the deck and ends up at Rue's feet. She crouches and picks it up, eying it curiously]

[Zelos was just walking and or pacing by out of boredom, not really paying close attention to the floor since he's too busy thinking. Which of course, is a dangerous pastime for Zelos even without stuff on the floor, but now? Makes him completely oblivious of the marbles that get under his feet]

-- Whoa!

[And with a yelp, he does a very comical slip that makes his feet go in the air and land on the deck with his back]

[The Great Zelos Wilder, everyone.]

Zelos! [in an instant, Five's on his feet, moving to help him up] Goodness, I'm sorry. Are you alright?!

[cricketycricket]

[he glances up at her and smiles] It's a marble. Generally for games, but useful in a pinch for all sorts of other things.

[wilder]

Uh yeah, just fine~!

[Mostly embarrassed at the clumsiness. Luckily he's used to, well, pain. But he'll accept the help to get pulled up]

Heh heh, nice view of the sky from down there!

[cricketycricket]

Is it, really? [and he'll ... sit down on the deck and crane his head backwards] Oh, you know, it is, isn't it. ... Sometimes that's a wonderful thing, a change of perspective.

[he gets back up, stretches, and grins at him] Though, since we've already been accidental accomplices to one another, I don't suppose that's a thing you'd need to hear, is it.

[wilder]

Yeah, it's not blocked by the landscape or anything from there.

Right. [He chuckles] I just hope he lets himself see a change in perspective and not spend the whole trip, eyes shut.

[And Clint is watching all of this from nearby, smiling lightly.]

Think you've packed enough, there?

[ Flying. Fish. Why do the fish fly? Fucking flying fish. ]

[ Not too far off is a very pale magician, sitting cross-legged and staring pointedly at the wooden floor. he hears the request for binoculars and robotically reaches into his shirt to pull out his pair. He'll be damned if he's gonna use them now. ]

Y-you can use mine.

Yeah? What kind of other things?

[She smiles, looking over everything on the deck]

Wow. Did you really bring all of this?

Those pockets are impressive, Doctor.

[She's watching him, amused.] You have magic pockets, too? [She walks over and starts collecting the marbles up so nobody will trip and fall on them.]

[Conan is sitting on a crate nearby and watching the river through his glasses, occasionally tapping on the hidden controls to zoom in on certain features. Don't ask him how much effort he'd had to put in to moving the crate so that he could see over the railing.]

Where did you see something like this before?

[River Song happened to be exploring not too far away from him, so it didn't take her too long to come across him near the river bank]

I didn't bring any binoculars with me, sorry.

[She arches a brow at the contents of his pockets. How he ever gets such miscellaneous stuff in there in the first place is beyond her]

I'm surprise that's all you have in there.

[cricketycricket]

Well, yes, of course I did. Never know when any of it might come in handy. [he pokes around the pile until he finds a certain slingshot] This, for example. This is another perfectly good use for marbles, under the right circumstances.

[cricketycricket]

So do I. ... Then again, sometimes it takes quite a bit of time to heal certain wounds. Especially the self-inflicted ones.

[he'll start picking everything back up off the deck, slowly]

Oh, this is just what's in my pockets. You should see my bag. [he beams]

Ah! Thank you very much! [he leans forward to take them] Are you quite alright? You're looking a bit green around the gills, as it were...

Thank you, Hermione. They're most useful, in situations like this. ... I have to say, this is all rather picturesque, don't you think? Right down to the flying fish. Very whimsical.

Wouldn't dare leave without them, Martel. [he smiles] You don't have to do that, you know, I can manage ...

Oh, on Jathraxis Minor - the third moon of it, actually, to be more specific. Their canals were manmade, though - not half as impressive as these, once you consider that little fact.

Oh, they shrink a bit past the Dead Zone. I had to take out the Dickens anthology before we crossed the border, sadly.

Finding anything of interest, dear?

Oh well that makes all the difference. Although, I have been a bit preoccupied exploring nearby. Have you sketched the aqueducts?

...Yeah. I know.

[All too well. He was only a bit better off than Once-ler, at the end of the day. He'll glance at Five and his stuff]

Where'd you get all that stuff?

I was working on it, actually. Hence my request for a good pair of binoculars. [he smirks. and yes, "dear". it's a concession he's starting to make in his young age - if she's lost Eleven and is left with just him, well ... he might as well make some form of effort. he's fond of her, after all, even if he doesn't love her with the same strength and depth that his future self did. will. does. whichever]
