'A man named Ray Stanz told me to speak with you about Chimera and the Peace patrol. Being a Magic user and a soldier, I am told I can offer some help.'

[Jade's eyebrow has grown back, his room is returned to normal, and he's found himself with little to do, seeing as there's nothing specific to do with the Host Club and he'll be waiting to see about that filter soon. So, he's out on the roof testing out some theories as to how to use spells without the use of his voice.

He can generally be found here with little glowing balls of light, occasionally conjuring up a small fireball or spheres of other elements.]

[ And one of the best ways to get Duke's attention is to use magic. Even if the roof is somewhere a bit odd compared to his room, he'll stick his head out of that door and try to focus on what Jade's doing.

Nothing.. big. Occasionally things that felt like a novice, or lower, spell...

Duke's just going to slip outside the door, and pay attention to that. He's not particularly good with water or earth, so if whoever it is starts using something of that, he'll pay more attention - and maybe try to mimic what was being done. ]

[Felix remembers this handwriting and it makes him frown at it a moment before he answers]

I'm always happy for more members. I only head Chimera...however we are in cooperation with the Peace Patrol. What is it you are looking to do to?

'Simply that I have time, magic, and military experience that I'd like to put to good use instead of sitting about and letting it atrophy. If I can help, I'll certainly do so.'

[Jade appears to be doing another spell, the glyph appearing below him and shimmering lightly. Without the incantation, it dies down. Jade pauses for a moment. Something to complete the arte. That would be best.

The glyph appears again and Jade works, a sphere of flames appearing in front of him briefly before it dissipated. He had other magics to channel with his spear, but his larger spells were what he wanted. Novice spells were going to be a challenge in itself. He was sure he'd never get his meteor Storm back but damn it all if he wasn't going to get his Thunder Blade.

For now, he doesn't seem to really notice Duke.]

[ Well. That feels interesting.

It's not the same way of building spells - it feels less like a formula and ... more like some sort of rhythm.

Which is a bit weird to Duke, but whatever helped the caster get their focus down and the spell cast right . . .

Which they seemed to be having a bit of trouble doing, by the lack of "complete" feeling and more of a ... fade, that he's feeling. Disolve?

Getting distracted. He thinks about attempting to aid - but this was something, or felt somewhat familiar to something, he hadn't tried casting in ages.

Carefully, slowly, building the same spell that who-ever-it-was had just tried. Attempting the same way, as well, but since he's only mimicking the rhythm he'd noticed, it might be a mixed success. ]

[Jade feels the magic from behind and quickly turns to see whoever that person was. Spotting Duke, he looks amused.

However, learning that he's a caster might help. Though, it depended on how the magic was developed and executed. To showcase the problem, Jade began to cast, the glyph appeared, then dissipated when he couldn't chant.]

[ Duke blinks as the other moves - but doesn't say anything, odd - then focuses again when he feels magic stirring once more.

Ahh, he's doing this much better the second time through, although... ]

... Missing.. [ He thinks he figured out the problem? Rebuilding the spell, a bit quicker although still neatly, and then doing his best to hold it still - prevent it from growing further - or in this case, dissipating.

Right here. It needed something right here and he didn't know what it was - nor could the other provide it, it seemed. ]

[As Duke seems to get it, Jade goes to write a few simple things in his journal. He wanted his more powerful spells back, even if he didn't get the 'forbidden ones'.]

'I require my voice.'

[ Oh, it's Jade. ]

.... Mnemonic device necessary? [ That's a little strange but -

It felt like a rhythm. Rhythms were rather common in... music? And music wasn't just a rhythm, usually, and if it was a spell -

Too many options. Should he try to add a layer to the spell to mimic the vocal part of it? Ask for the vocal part of the spell?

He's distracted himself, Jade, sorry. ]

'A way for the incantation to go through.'

[Jade gives Duke an odd look at the expression Duke is making. He's amused, but he'll wait a moment. For now, he's starting to get lost in his own thoughts. Maybe an alternative to that. If anything, it might not have to be vocal. He looked at his journal and flipped to a blank page. It felt odd, but he scribbled an incantation.]

'O violent torrent Splash'

[The letters turned gold and dissipated into the page. Jade frowned then dropped his journal as water spewed somewhat violently from the pages.

Right. Book was a nono.]

[ Duke's head goes up at the water spewing and he casually nudges his journal out of the way, hastily recreates the spell - and tests his second theory.

Try one - use magic to imitate the words "o violent torrent Splash" at the point where the "missing" was.

It might be a bit messy, and... aimed right where he was standing because he didn't dissect the spell to find out how to aim it, but it.. seems to be a splash.

Just sort of.. spluttering. ]

[Jade watches and if Duke could see, he'd see Jade laughing noiselessly at him.

A second of regaining his composure, and Jade would attempt the book again, but it's sopping wet. So, he tries his theory and takes the pen. Channeling energy into it, Jade writes in the air itself, the letters glittering as a glyph swirls beneath him.

The spell is... Difficult and the added work of writing in the air is certainly a drain, but...]

'Howl o raging wind and cleave mine enemies with your blade Turbulence'

[Feels odd sans punctuation. The spell smacks into Duke from underneath, however. Sorry, Duke, the spell is small, but you don't get a fonist's mark, yet.]

[ That was an interesting spell - sounded new and unfamiliar in construction so Duke is in the middle of mimicing when -

[ - what -

that wasn't -

[ Reaction to being - what Duke registers as - attacked happens before Duke really thinks. Stealing some of the remnants of that wind spell as he staggers. ]

Fear the roar of the wolf! Tempest! [ Jade might want to get away from that forming twister. Before it pulls him in and that nasty cloud above it drops its lightning. ]

[Jade half-expected that kind of reaction. Guardian was always an easy one. The Fonic barrier flashed up around him and the spell jarred it, but it stayed in place, with Jade feeling a tad static-y from the lightning. He grabbed up his journal, flipping to a dry page and writing again.]

'My, that was fast.'

..... [ Still somewhat wary - and somewhat soaked - so he's remaining focused at where Jade was. He did not approve of that sneak attack - ... although he's starting to get the feeling that it had been a 'lets try this out on .. the currently available target.' ... still doesn't approve. ]

Was left with a slight concentration of wind to start with. [ Since Jade, y'know, cast on him. ]

[Jade just smiles at Duke's expression.]

'I was only trying to help. Unfortunately, it's not as strong with the adjusted form of casting.'

. . . . . . . . . [ Help. Really.

Casting a combat spell upon someone was helping.

This is one of Duke's eyebrows twitching up in a ".... really.

Okay, so a wind spell could technically be counted as "helpful" to someone soaked, but you know what? Duke took it as attacked and it's left him not in a mood to see it that way. ]

[there's a pony snoozing on a cloud, but the magic gets her attention. She'll poke her head over the edge of the cloud, quietly watching.]

[Jade continues to work. A circular glyph written with an odd language and coated in symbols shines at his feet for a long moment, then dissipates and Jade looks mildly irritated before he tries again, the glyph a different color this time.

A small ball is produced, one of churning wind before it makes a snapping noise and disappears. Jade once again has that look on his face and frowns. For now, he doesn't seem to notice Luna was there.]

[whoa, maybe he's some sorta magical weather pon - human.

Curious, she picks up a bit of cloud and molds it into a shape approximating his glyph. Only a few of the symbols are filled in, so she'll just keep watching.]

[Jade keeps making the glyphs. Some work, some do not. This continues for another ten minutes before Jade goes to sit down tiredly and rest for a moment, looking a tad tired as he did so.]

'My, have I upset you? I was only trying to dry you off.'

[Well. Partly.]

[she'll finally wing down to the roof now that it doesn't seem like she'll be disturbing him, leaving a fluffy cloud and an odd glyph-like cloud hanging about in the sky.]
