☐ Make sure it's better than all the others!
☐ Get the biggest candy bucket to cut down on refill trips.
☐ Pick out a second costume to change into halfway through.
☐ Make a second round. Who needs to know? More candy!
☐ Don't forget to visit both the castle and the city.
☐ Trick or scare at least one person before the night's through.

With this you can't go wrong. And if you plan on handing out candy, you better be generous.

Traditionally to terrify. Some sources say because it repels evil spirits. The barrier between the living and dead is supposed to be weakened, so both good and bad spirits can mingle among the living.

But, really, you can dress up however you want. It should be something you would normally never be.

[This is tedious. Katherine knows about Halloween, but in 1842 it wasn't exactly a big deal. Silly Puritans. There were similar festivals in England, even Bulgaria... but when things don't cross over the ocean.
