66 is a rite of passage

[there's no year. What purpose did years have in a place that mixed and matched them at will? But the date was important. Somehow it seemed more so, with the journals empty. Like starting over, though her old journal sat next to her on the table, a reminder.

Pencil still in hand, she switches to speaking, musing as much to herself as to the castle at large]

Sometimes it feels like everything is made up of chapters in a book. They're all connected, but each one is something...new.

I've been here two years now, today. I'm still not sure if it feels like a long time or barely a breath...and now the castle seems to want a fresh start.

[she smiles, and it's evident in her voice as she starts to doodle a little twig man in the margin...her first sketch in the new book] I wonder how this chapter will go?

[Oh, hey Jilly. Guess who's back? With all the memories of her own prior chapter at that.]

Not really sure if I want to think about it.

[there's a voice she hasn't heard in awhile! Though, honestly, she's spent so long bouncing between losses that it's not really uncommon. Either way, she's pleased to hear from her.]

[a small laugh] I'm torn between the two. I can never really decide whether to marvel at my time here...or be really, really afraid.

Happy two years. And hey, it could have been worse. At least the place hasn't blown up.

[she laughed] No, I think you all covered that before I showed up.

It could have happened again.

Anyway, are you planning anything special?

I'm still in the middle of celebrating being animate again. I'm not sure I'm up for special plans.

Probably both.

[Although she sounds pretty calm when she says it, Amelia can't help but feel the same way. Now that she can remember it all, it's pretty amazing to think about--and also, overwhelming.]

Are you doing okay?

Oh pft, everyone is up for special plans.

Into the breach~?

[she almost feels like she's supposed to say 'congratulations' or something like that... but because that feels wrong too, she talks about other stuff instead]

The last journal had chapters?

I am.

Just...amazed at the routines I've fallen into. [funny, but the longer she was here, the closer she came to thinking of it the way she thought of Newford...]

[color her amused] Alright, then. What kind of special plans am I supposed to be planning?

[that voice gets a smile] Dear friends, once more.

[b'aww, Nanako.]

In a way. You know how birthdays sometimes feel like they should start something brand new and important, because it's a whole new year? Getting a new journal feels a little like that.
