I brushed my teeth. I even used mouthwash. I am prepared for any and all awkward that will ensue in the following month.

I'm not totally sure what's causing it, yet.

But I'm ready. Do your worst, castle.

[Steph's walking around in the city, trying to get some Christmas present ideas. And trying to not worry about kissing random people. Totally not a big deal if everyone is doing it, right? Right.

She's trying not to hurry back to the castle and to her room.]

[The scientist was doing the same exact thing, standing in front of a shop window full of children's toys. It's obvious that he might need a bit of help, because he was staring at all of them... not knowing what on earth he's looking at.

What do you get human children...?

Hopefully she passes him by, because if she does, he would be sure to turn to her and wave his hand, trying to get her attention]

I uh-- hey! Love!

[Stephanie turns, eyebrows up. She looks around.]

Me?

Y-yes! Um... so-sorry about... bothering you.
Probably running errands and the like.

[Clearing his throat, he grins. She looks familiar...]

I... was just wondering if... you-you were busy?
C-could you maybe-- do you think you could help me? Maybe?

[She looks a little worried, but nods.]

I'm not busy. What's wrong?

Oh! It's um... nothing bad! I-I just...

[Because that's what he assumes the worried look is for. He points to the toy shop window behind him.]

I just--...do you have any idea...
Wh... what...
What do you buy a little human girl?
For um...

...for Christmas...?

You see, I heard about Christmas, and how humans normally buy gifts for each other but its, uh... kind of my first time! Doing... this!

[Steph blinks, then the worry meter drains. Oh, okay. That's... kinda weird, but cute.]

Oh! Sure, I can help you with that. Umm... do you know what kind of stuff this little girl likes? Girly things?

Th-thank you! Thank you so much. Ar-are you sure?
She likes magical things. Little girl. About this high. C-can't be more than 15.

[He roughly finds 5 feet. Okay.. so she's not LITTLE little, but what's the difference to a guy who towers at 6'7?]

She runs around in a magician's outfit all the time.

I'm sure. I'm not busy.

Speaking of magic, though--we might end up kissing. That okay?

[She looks up at him. Kissing a tall guy, huh? Okay...]

[He chuckles, grinning. See? Look at those pearly whites.]

Wheatley, by the way. My name... that-that's my name.

[He holds his hand out.]

Though I can't shake the feeling I've met you before! Have--have we spoken? Perhaps a long time ago?

So have I. I'm Stephanie, Stephanie Brown.

[She shakes his hand, then holds on to it for a moment longer as she squints at him.]

I don't know. You do sound kinda familiar...

Hopefully it was a good thing... what-what ever it was! And not me... doing something.... uh, moronic.

[And he lets go, still facing her as he clumsily walked backwards to the toy shop entrance, opening the door for her. Thank god it was only a few steps... with a frame like that, he would have been sure to trip over his own feet.]

L-ladies first!

[ Out in town looking for gifts, and not paying a lot of attention to the people around him, but he does come to a halt and raise an eyebrow when he hears a girl mention brushing her teeth and using mouthwash... out loud... in public.

Huh. ]

Nothing wrong with good personal hygiene.

[ Lucrezia catches sight of Steph near the lobby, hiding between nooks and turns to sneak up on her and grab her shoulders! ]

[She pretends to be VERY STARTLED, complete with a jump and an "eek!"]

If it was moronic, I'm sure I'd remember.

[She grins at him. He's sort of cute, in a newborn baby giraffe sort of way. She steps inside.]

I swear I'm not talking to myself. [She holds up the journal.]

[ The worried smile relaxes and he nods his head. ]

Well that takes care of one worry. Of course there are still so many other questions that could be asked if I wasn't almost afraid to.

[ FFFF YOU WEREN'T PRETENDING, STEPH. Lucrezia laughs and laughs, stepping back in case that calls for a tickle attack. ]

Did you think you could ever escape me?
