Good afternoon, sir. Might I have a word?
theabjectauthor: (I put more horrible truths to paper.)

This Gentleman

[how curious....]

But of course, sir. What would you care to speak about?
theabjectauthor: (I don't think I believe you.)

This Man

.... The last time I heard such things mentioned, sir, it was in conjunction with the Village of Fowl Devotees.

[dropping you a little VFD code, here, sir, because that's very suspicious. are you who he thinks you are? also, he knows about the Hotel Denouement from Violet, but it hasn't happened for him, yet]
theabjectauthor: (I don't think I believe you.)

I am not, sir, though I feel I should ask why you thought I, a total stranger, should he knowledgeable upon the subject. Am I correct in surmising we have a mutual acquaintance? .... Violet Baudelaire, perhaps?

[he will be honest, but he'll be damned if he gives the stranger anything that might endanger Violet]
theabjectauthor: (I dropped it and now it is lost forever.)

Well, I should be more than happy to answer any questions she may have referred you to me for, to the best of my ability. However, I feel you have me at a disadvantage: all involved parties in this discussion have been named, save yourself.
theabjectauthor: (I put more horrible truths to paper.)

James Wilson - question is, can he even see it?

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2012-12-29 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems to me you are more at Violet's, for which I owe you my thanks.
theabjectauthor: (I am hiding from someone/thing.)

Indeed. Do you, by any chance, know a gentleman named Gregory House? I was told he might also question me, and it seems many of Violet's friends know one another...
theabjectauthor: (I am perplexed by you.)

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-01-09 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's quite a strong opinion to hold of someone....! Why on Earth would you think so of him? Violet spoke favorably of his character, if not quite of his demeanor.
theabjectauthor: (I am attempting to be social.)

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-01-15 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. And how might I meet him? I feel I should, no matter what sort of man he is. He's important to her.

Not as yet. I did not want to seem too intrusive or forthcoming.
theabjectauthor: (I dropped it and now it is lost forever.)

There are people who can pull it off with aplomb, such as yourself, and people who cannot. I am sadly in the latter category.
theabjectauthor: (I am knowledgeable)

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-01-25 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, a great number of things, but this is hardly a time to brag. Unless, of course, you are indeed, for some reason, looking for a list of my serviceable skills and knowledge, in which case I suppose I could oblige.
theabjectauthor: (I am knowledgeable)

REMEMBER: you. asked. for. this.

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-02-01 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Very well then. [ahem.] Over the course of a long, comprehensive education - both formal and informal - I have studied advanced cryptography, rhetoric, criticism, theatre both classical and modern, extensive creative bartering, snake charming, volcanic geology, swordsmanship, the art of disguise, cartography, astrology, astronomy, archery, memorization, poison testing, ropemaking, sailing, millinery, badminton, marmoset training, cheerleading, the art of falling properly into trees from inordinate heights, the culinary arts, and lockpicking ... though admittedly, I garnered incomplete marks for that. I can also run for up to sixteen miles at one time, should the need arise, play the accordion, and always, always keep my promises.
theabjectauthor: (I am a bit of a smart-mouth.)

AND IT IS ALL CANON

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-02-08 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Have you considered better-fitting shoes?
theabjectauthor: (I am a gratuitous guardian.)

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-02-10 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps it was high time you found a new pair, then. But I highly doubt you wanted to talk to me about shoes.
theabjectauthor: (I do not know the song you request.)

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-02-12 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
You had asked me about whale harpoons, as you are a friend of Violet's, but yet you were unfamiliar with the Village of Fowl Devotees.

As that is the only place that I know of where the two occupied the same general vicinity, I'm afraid I must admit, you have confused me vaguely.
theabjectauthor: (I don't think I believe you.)

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-02-12 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
And I don't suppose you would care to enlighten me, in any manner?
