Wonderland: Day One

The residents of Paradisa who ventured into the lobby on the 13th would find something new there; a mirror spanning an entire wall. Given recent happenings, who can blame them if they're cautious? Trouble is, this mirror seems to really want to bring people in, because you don't have to get too close before you're through the looking glass.

Once you've gone, you may find that you're not quite yourself.

[Notes/Reminders: Type 1 and Type 2 characters will believe they are Wonderland natives. All characters, including those not entering Wonderland, will be able to use their journals; Wonderland "natives" will think it is a communication device exclusive to Wonderland, although communication between Paradisa and Wonderland through the journals is absolutely possible. You may NPC any number of Tulgey Wood creatures, except for the Jabberwocky.]

[Danny stares for a moment. He hadn't seen very many other fliers in the castle.]

[ The King glances at the outstretched hand. Then he glares at the Captain of the Guard until the card clears his throat. "Presenting His Majesty, the King of Hearts." ]

You are truly a blessing, Mr. Walker. I have ever only known such kindness to come from the King.

[If nothing else, the White Rabbit seems significantly calmer now. He travels quietly through the maze, focused on finding the way out.]

How dare you speak such lies! You will hold your tongue or I'll have you executed on the spot!

[Her hand lifts to cover her mouth. Never, ever in her entire life has she ever heard something more accurate. If this is what the universe does with his face, then that's just amazing. It's enough to make her nearly snicker with laughter. It'd be rude though, which is why she's covering her mouth. Eventually, it subsides and she nods.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, your Highness. How long have you been ruler of this land?

[ The King looks for the culprit. An itch spreads across his scalp as he finds her. He ignores it for the moment. ]

Woman, why do you laugh?

[magicus]

[ None of that, thank you. He still looks mostly skeptical, but this is hardly the first time he's dealt with people forgetting things, and he's quick to catch on. Mostly. ]

You really don't remember. [ It's said more as confirmation than question. Then another pause, and this time it is a question, because the throne room and ridiculous outfit is kind of a clue. ] Are you the king here?

[ They're a rare breed, but definitely out there. ]

Yeah, I was just wondering if you could tell me what is going on here.

[impetuous]

I shall tell the suits to prepare. [ He kisses the back of her hand. ] My queen.

[wagers]

Okay, I'm not going to start a revolution or anything, I'm just going to talk some sense into people! Come on, let's just go already!

[scinlae]

[ The man is looking at her, the voice also bears his face, her heart stops and she takes another step back. Broken laughter turning to something more desperate, something scared. ]

No.

[ Why isn't he disappearing? She closes her eyes tightly before opening them again and still he stands with this guards. No, no no no no no no no no no ─ ]

Don't.

[ Her tone turns pleading, another heavy step backwards is taken. This one won disappear, it won't, this phantom, this broken twisted phantom. Why won't he disappear? He isn't real, he isn't. Disappear! ]

[wagers]

Uhh. Okay? [Squint.] So what's your deal anyway?

[impetuous]

[ He sniffs. ] Yes. And I remember being king very well. I'd say you it's you that can't remember.

[impetuous]

Leave us.

[ The cards follow their king's orders quickly. Alone in the hall with the woman, the king approaches her. ]

Are you well, my darling? I believe you're suffering from having drank too much tea. A seat and some crackers ought fix this. You! Seven!

[ The poor seven of spades freezes. ]

Tell the cook to fetch the lady some crackers and a seat!

[ He speaks but his words are nothing more than sound, she doesn't properly comprehend them. For every step he takes she takes one back, refusing to let him come any closer. He can't, he isn't real, he isn't real─ ]

No, go away, stop haunting me!

[with all the strange things that have been going on with mirrors lately, Hermione is understandably cautious. However, she still approaches it. And feels herself tumbling in]

[ Wow. King Gwaine is a bit... fussy. Unimpressed, man!! But at least the death threat is on hold for a second. ]

What about Paradisa, do you remember that? [ He wouldn't know about Gwaine's stay personally, but he spoke with someone briefly about it. ] You were a child, and you - well, you were you. Drinking and stealing, apparently, which I imagine was a bit harder when you couldn't carry a sword.

A curious question, for your choice of words implies that the Queen is not indeed mad.

[Hi Sheena. Hope you don't mind a dog-person-thing (think something like a sphinx) having snuck up behind you. Also, try not to freak out at the fact that he's about the size of a bull.]

[ Pushing the encounter out of mind, he heads to the throne room. ]
